JAMMU: Ghulam Nabi Azad, the chairperson of the DPAP, voiced concern over recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and asked for concerted effort to combat them on Wednesday. The last five years have seen an improvement in the security environment. However, instances have occurred during the previous 1.5 years, mainly in the Rajouri region. The event in Kashmir’s Kokernag also happened. On the sidelines of meeting with numerous delegations in this city, he told reporters, “We are concerned about it. The chairperson of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) was responding to query regarding the current state of security in Jammu Kashmir. Azad stated that “we all, the people of J&K, the government, and politicians should jointly fight it out” because it appears that militancy is making another attempt to rear its head. “It is not solely the responsibility of the government, but all of us,” he stated. In response to the dharna held on Tuesday by the major opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir, including the National Conference, the Congress, and the PDP, Azad stated, “The leaders who had given the call (for the demonstration) were themselves absconding.” He appeared to be referring to NC leader Farooq Abdullah and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, who were unable to attend the dharna on Tuesday, by saying, “This shows their seriousness.” Azad advised the government to investigate the problems facing the Gujjar-Bakarwal community after meeting with many delegations, notably those from this group.
