POONCH: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, IAS, along with Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, on Tuesday visited the rain-affected area of Dara Sangla in Surankote to review the ongoing search, rescue and relief operations following the recent heavy rainfall.
The senior officers were accompanied by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri-Poonch Range, the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch and other senior civil and police officers, who assessed the ground situation and monitored the progress of the ongoing operations.
During the visit, the officers interacted with personnel from the District Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Civil Administration engaged in the rescue operation. They appreciated the teams for their dedicated efforts under challenging weather conditions.
The officers also met affected residents and assured them that the administration was extending all possible assistance to support the affected families.
Emphasising close coordination among all stakeholder agencies, the Divisional Commissioner and the IGP directed field teams to remain vigilant, prioritise public safety and ensure timely assistance to those affected. They stressed that no effort should be spared in the ongoing search, rescue and relief operations.
District Police Poonch, in coordination with the Civil Administration, NDRF, SDRF, CISF and other line departments, continues to carry out round-the-clock search, rescue and relief operations in the affected areas, with authorities reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding the lives and well-being of the public.
