POONCH: District Police Poonch conducted an extensive traffic enforcement drive across Poonch, Mendhar and Surankote sub-divisions, cracking down on violations and stressing the need for strict adherence to traffic regulations to ensure road safety.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of senior police officers, with dedicated police teams deployed at multiple locations across the three sub-divisions. During intensive checking, police personnel inspected vehicles and took action against motorists found violating traffic norms.
More than 130 vehicles were seized or challaned for various violations, including dangerous and negligent driving, overloading, driving without valid documents, improper parking, use of vehicles in violation of prescribed norms and other offences under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police said the enforcement exercise was aimed not merely at penalising violators but at preventing road accidents, ensuring orderly movement of traffic and safeguarding the lives of commuters and pedestrians. During the drive, motorists were also sensitised about observing speed limits, wearing seat belts and helmets, carrying valid vehicle documents and avoiding dangerous driving practices.
District Police Poonch reiterated that traffic enforcement would continue across the district, with particular focus on violations that pose a direct threat to the safety of road users. The police appealed to motorists to cooperate with enforcement teams and strictly follow traffic regulations.
Police also urged all commuters to drive responsibly and make road safety a collective responsibility, stressing that disciplined driving and compliance with traffic rules are essential to preventing accidents and saving lives.
