APR 04, 2024 : Meta-owned WhatsApp and Instagram have been restored hours after it went down for several users across the globe on Wednesday night. During the outage, users trying to log in to the browser version or the mobile app of the platform were faced with an error message. The users also could not send messages and use services like WhatsApp audio and video calls. There were more than 17,000 incidents of users reporting issues with the messaging platform, news agency Reuters reported, citing Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its platform. According to Reuters, more than 30,000 users in India, over 67,000 in the United Kingdom and 95,000 in Brazil reported problems with the platform. Around 3,200 people were also facing issues with Instagram in the United States, as per Downdetector. “We know some people are experiencing issues right now, we’re working on getting things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible,” WhatsApp said in a post on X after the outage. Earlier in March this year, Facebook, Instagram and Threads users reported that they couldn’t access the social media apps.
