Before the NIA special court here, a charge sheet was submitted against two residents of South Kashmir, Hilal Yaqoob Deva alias "Sethi Soab" and Musiab Fayaz Baba alias "Shoaib Zarar" of Shopian, and Habibullah Malik alias "Sajid Jutt," who is from the Kasur area in the Punjab region of Pakistan. According to a federal agency spokesman, they were charged under pertinent parts of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code.The source stated that Malik, also known by a number of other names, including Saifullah, Noomi, Numan, Langda, Ali Sajid, Usman Habib, and Shani, has been implicated in a number of terrorist incidents in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of the Jammu region. The additional charge sheet is the result of inquiries into the case that the NIA filed suo-motu on June 21 of last year. The case concerns a plot developed "both physically and virtually" by several terrorist groups that have been outlawed to sow terror and disturb the peace in J&K by launching attacks with small guns, sticky bombs, and improvised explosive devices.According to investigations thus far, the three individuals named in the charge sheet conspired criminally to launch terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir against security personnel and other targets with the goal of overthrowing the Indian government. The spokesperson said that Hilal and Musiab, who had both begun serving as Malik's Over Ground Workers (OGWs), had become radicalised by Malik.The CIA added that the two OWGs had gathered and moved money and weapons among Malik's other OGWs in order to enable and assist terror strikes in J-K. The spokesperson stated, "The whole plot was discovered to be a component of the larger schemes of the outlawed terrorist groups to carry out violent and terrifying acts by indoctrinating local youth and organising overground workers to disturb peace and communal harmony in J-K." In recent months, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its crackdown and investigations in the Kashmir region in response to the several proscribed terrorist organisations launching new outfits to carry out their terror-related activities there.Organisations including the TRF, the United Liberation Front Jammu and Kashmir, the Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind, the Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters, the Kashmir Tigers, the PAAF, and others are under investigation by the NIA. PM Narendra Modi taking everything personally”: Mallikarjun Kharge amid diplomatic row with Maldives

KARNATAKA: Within the context of a diplomatic spat with the Maldives over three deputy ministers' 'derogatory remarks' about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress claimed on Tuesday that the PM has been taking things 'personally' ever since he took office in 2014. In an interview with the media, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge promoted cordial ties with neighbours. "Since assuming office, Narendra Modi has been interpreting everything personally. On a global scale, we ought to maintain positive relations with our neighbours...We must act in accordance with the clock.We are powerless to alter our neighbours," Kharge remarked. After PM Modi visited the Lakshadweep Islands to boost tourism, three Maldivian deputy ministers made disparaging statements about him. This led to a diplomatic spat with the Maldives.All it took for PM Modi to promote travel to the Lakshadweep islands this past weekend was a string of postings on X. But it also sparked a social media feud between Indian users and politicians, government employees, and Maldivian politicians. Prominent Maldivian social media users, including politicians, quickly responded to PM Modi's message with disparaging remarks against Indians and the PM. The Maldivian Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Mariyam Shiuna, made a derogatory and sarcastic reference to Prime Minister Modi in a post that has since been removed. Nonetheless, the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) has vehemently denounced disparaging statements made by government representatives. Declaring India to be among the Maldives' closest allies and neighbours, MATI pointed out that throughout the island nation's history, India has always been the first to respond to major crises. "India is among our closest allies and neighbours. Throughout our history, India has consistently been the first to respond to crises, and we are incredibly appreciative of the close ties that the Indian government and people have maintained with us," a statement from MAITI read. It emphasised how India has "consistently and significantly contributed to the Maldives' tourism industry." After the borders were reopened, it was said that India had "greatly assisted" the Maldives' recovery efforts from the COVID-19 pandemic.As per MATI's news release, "Since then, India has continued to remain as one of the top markets for the Maldives." "It is our sincere wish that the close relationship between our two nations endures for generations to come and as such, we refrain from actions or speech that may have any negative impact on our good relationship," it continued. India’s Annual Hajj Quota Enhanced To 1.75 Lac Pilgrims This Yr: Nirupama Kotru

JAMMU, Jan 9: India's yearly Hajj quota has been increased to 1.75 lakh pilgrims per year, according to Joint Secretary Minority Affairs Nirupama Kotru, a Kashmiri Pandit who was a member of the Indian delegation led by Union Minister Smriti Irani to sign the Hajj Agreement 2023. She stated that the Saudi government has decided to increase India's annual quota of first-time Hajj pilgrims to 1.75 lakh under the terms of the new Agreement 2024. The agreement's positive aspect, according to her, is that the majority of Hajj pilgrims this year will come from J&K. Additionally, J&K residents will be given priority over anyone on the waiting list who cancels their application or leaves the list.We now trail just Indonesia and Pakistan. Even so, we have asked the Saudi authorities to raise the quota to two lakh every year starting in the following year. MoS Foreign Ministry V Murlidharan and Union Minister Smriti Irani oversaw the arrangement. She noted that since last year's noteworthy initiative allowed women to perform the Hajj without a "Mehram," 6,000 applications from women wishing to go the Hajj without a "Mehram" had already been received this year. We predict that the number will rise even further this year compared to last. Additionally, we have made sure that anyone who wants to make this holy pilgrimage has no trouble finding facilities or anything else during our stay, the speaker continued.According to Nirupama, the Union Minister in charge of the facilities for Hajj travellers is herself, and she has had lengthy discussions with Saudi officials about how to better accommodate Indian pilgrims travelling on the Hajj.
