JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday dismissed an employee of the Wildlife Protection Department from service over his alleged repeated involvement in drug trafficking.
The dismissed employee, Vinod Kumar Raina, a resident of Kandikhas area of Handwara in Kupwara district, was serving as a watcher in the Wildlife Protection Department.
According to an order issued by Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner/Secretary, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, Raina has been dismissed from government service with immediate effect.
The government has also disqualified him from future employment under the government.
The action followed a departmental inquiry initiated after Raina was arrested on July 18, 2021, under the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 329/2021 registered at Police Station Nagrota.
He was allegedly found in possession of around 300 grams of charas.
During the departmental inquiry, authorities also found that Raina had allegedly been involved in drug trafficking on an earlier occasion.
The government subsequently ordered his dismissal from service, citing the findings of the inquiry and the seriousness of the charges.
