NEW DELHI: Statesman and scholar Dr Karan Singh, accompanied by his son and former MLC Vikramaditya Singh, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday and discussed current affairs along with initiatives related to religious and heritage conservation in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, Dr Karan Singh briefed the Prime Minister on the completion of the digitisation of rare manuscript archives held by the Dharmarth Trust in Jammu, of which he is the custodian. He also shared details of his ongoing literary work, including commentaries on the Mandukya, Kena and Mundaka Upanishads, a foreword to the Ramcharitmanas, and a general introduction to nine texts on Tantra under the Jammu Series of Texts and Studies.
Vikramaditya Singh congratulated the Prime Minister on the successful hosting of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, describing the gathering of world leaders on a single platform as a significant occasion for the country.
He also apprised Modi of restoration work being undertaken by the Dharmarth Trust at key Hindu temples across Jammu and Kashmir, including temples in Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
The meeting brought together discussions on literary scholarship, preservation of manuscript heritage and ongoing efforts to conserve Jammu and Kashmir’s religious and cultural heritage. The Dharmarth Trust has historically been associated with the management and preservation of numerous temples and shrines in the region.
