JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Saturday organised an Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive at the Municipal Animal Care Centre, Roop Nagar, as part of its ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of rabies and promote responsible animal care in the city.
The programme was conducted in the presence of Animal Welfare Officer Dr Gaurav Chaudhary and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Dr Divya Sharma. More than 50 dogs were vaccinated against rabies during the first day of the campaign.
The vaccination drive will continue for the next two days, with JMC offering free anti-rabies vaccination for stray dogs from different neighbourhoods. The civic body has appealed to residents to bring stray dogs from their respective areas to the Municipal Animal Care Centre, Roop Nagar, to avail themselves of the facility.
JMC, in coordination with the Health Department, said it is strengthening efforts to prevent rabies and work towards a rabies-free Jammu. The Corporation stressed that active public participation is essential for effective rabies control and urged residents to support the campaign.
The initiative is aimed at fostering coordinated action among the civic authorities, Health Department and citizens to create a safer and healthier environment for both people and animals.
