SHIMLA: The body of lady was found in the rubble of demolished Shiv temple close to Summer Hill on Wednesday, bringing the total number of fatalities in Himachal Pradesh’s rainstorm to 57, according to officials. Since Sunday, Himachal Pradesh has been hammered by heavy rains, which have caused landslides in Shimla’s Summer Hill, Krishna Nagar, and Fagli.Rescue efforts are ongoing in the neighbourhoods of Summer Hill and Krishna Nagar, and one dead has been found in Summer Hill, according to Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi, told. According to him, 13 dead have so far been found in Summer Hill, five in Fagli, and two in Krishna Nagar. The rubble of the Shiv temple that collapsed on Monday is still thought to contain ten bodies.Families in about 15 residences in Krishna Nagar have moved to safer locations after being evacuated. Many other people have left their homes out of worry that they will slip owing to the nonstop rain. At least eight homes were destroyed, two people were murdered, and an abattoir was buried in debris in a significant landslip that occurred on Tuesday evening in Krishnanagar Locality, in the centre of Shimla City. A almost 157 percent increase in rainfall over the past several days has caused considerable devastation throughout Himachal Pradesh, according to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, and over 60 people have died in the past three days.Due to the bad weather, the state’s education government ordered the suspension of all schools and institutions on Wednesday. The Himachal Pradesh University has also postponed classes till August 19. According to officials, the state has over Rs 7,200 crore in losses since the start of the monsoon season on June 24 and almost 800 roads are closed. Earlier in July, there were multiple fatalities and billions of rupees worth of property damage in the state due to torrential rains, which affected Mandi, Kullu, and Shimla. Mukesh Agnihotri, the deputy chief minister, has pleaded with the centre to declare Himachal Pradesh a national catastrophe and give Rs 2,000 crore for repair work.
