29 Killed In Himachal Pradesh Rains, 9 Of Them In Shimla Landslides

Shimla, Aug 14: As rains wrecked havoc in the state, causing landslides that closed important routes and toppled houses, at least 29 people died in Himachal Pradesh, nine of them buried under the debris of a temple and after another landslide in Shimla, officials said on Monday.
Nine bodies have reportedly been found in the rubble of a Shiv temple in the Summer Hill neighbourhood, according to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The other tragedy site is in Shimla’s Fagli neighbourhood, where several houses were submerged in muck and snow.There could be another 15 persons imprisoned at these two locations.
A cloudburst in Solan district claimed the lives of a family of seven people.
Following the cloudburst on Sunday night, two homes in Solan were destroyed by flooding. Six people were saved, while seven more perished in Jadon village, according to a police spokesman.
According to Superintendent of Police for Solan Gaurav Singh, the deceased have been identified as Harnam (38), Kamal Kishore (35), Hemlata (34), Rahul (14), Neha (12), Golu (8), and Raksha (12).The body of one of the two children who perished in the landslip that destroyed their makeshift home in the Balera panchayat of the district has been found. According to Deputy Commissioner of Solan Manmohan Sharma, a second woman perished in a landslip in the Banal village of the Ramsheher tehsil. According to the Deputy Commissioner in Hamirpur, the district’s constant rains have resulted in three fatalities and two missing persons. He urged everyone in the district to exercise extra caution in light of the poor weather and refrain from stepping outside needlessly.In the late hours of Sunday night in Seghli panchayat of Mandi district, a landslip claimed the lives of seven family members, among them a two-year-old. According to Deputy Commissioner Arindam Chaudhary, three people were saved.
