Admiral Dinesh Kumar Takes Charge As New Navy Chief

New Delhi, April 30: After incumbent R Hari Kumar retired from the Navy on Tuesday, communication and electronic warfare specialist Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi took over as the 26th Navy head.
Before assuming command of the force, Admiral Tripathi, a graduate of the Sainik School Rewa, was the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff.Admiral Tripathi, who was born on May 15, 1964, was commissioned on July 1, 1985, into the Indian Navy’s executive branch.
He is an expert in electronic warfare and communication who has served for almost 39 years with distinction.
He was the Western Naval Command’s Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief before assuming the role of Vice Chief of Navy.Vinash, Kirch, and Trishul are Indian Navy ships that Admiral Tripathi has commanded.
Additionally, he has held a number of significant staff and operational positions, including principal director of naval plans, director of naval operations, fleet operations officer of the Western Fleet, and director of network-centric operations.
He commanded the eastern fleet as flag officer while serving as a rear admiral.
He was also the Commandant of the esteemed Ezhimala Indian Naval Academy.
Admiral Tripathi, a graduate of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, has also studied at the US Naval Command College, Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, and the Naval Higher Command Course in Karanja.He has been awarded the Nau Sena Medal (NM) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM).
Admiral Hari Kumar served for forty years until retiring via superannuation.
