12th century sculptures of Lord Shiva, Goddess Indrani found near Jammu

JAMMU: Exquisite sculptures from the 12th century have been retrieved by the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums from the Bhour Camp area nearby. On Friday, an official stated that the department was notified by some sources of the discovery of rare sculptures in the Bhour Camp area. As result, group from the Archaeology department visited the location and removed the sculptures, guided and overseen by Pardeep Kumar, Director of Archives, Archaeology, and Museums. The team seized the sculptures in accordance with the J&K Act 1954’s provisions.Based on initial research, it has been discovered that the sculptures, which date to the 12th century AD, are extremely rare. These sculptures show the human form of Goddess Indrani, which measures 28″ by 13.5″ and weighs roughly 55 kg, and Lord Shiva, which measures 21″ by 14″ and weighs roughly 40 kg. The official stated that the department is prepared to begin the process of preserving these sculptures.
