JAMMU, 26 December: A senior police officer in the district has called for strict vigilance to ensure the success of the five-day winter festival, which is set to begin in the Bhaderwah valley in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. The event is intended to draw tourists and revellers celebrating the new year. According to a police spokesperson, officers from the Army, Central Armed Police Force, and intelligence agencies were present at the Subsidiary Multi-Agency Centre (SMAC) meeting where Doda Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom was speaking.The spokesperson stated that the participants held a frank discussion about the current state of security and developed a plan for a cooperative and successful mechanism for effective monitoring and security surveillance on the ground. They also shared their opinions, recommendations, and assessments of the district's current security scenario. In his address to the group, the SSP emphasised the need for officers to maintain vigilance and alertness in their areas because Bhaderwah is hosting a winter festival that is predicted to draw sizable numbers of visitors.According to the spokesperson, the officers were counselled to monitor social media and maintain effective area dominance in order to prevent rumour mongers and mischievous individuals from upsetting the quiet environment of the neighbourhood. District authorities have announced that various locations will host celebrations of the "Vibrant Bhaderwah Winter Festival" from December 27 to December 31. According to them, a number of events have been scheduled at well-known locations like Qilla (Fort), Jae Valley, Guldanda, and Gatha Park, where guests will also be able to sample local cuisine.Bhaderwah, a newly popular tourist destination, welcomes a large number of visitors each year from both domestic and foreign travel, which indicates its enormous potential to become the nation's most popular travel destination. According to the officials, the fact that the valley has welcomed over 6.5 lakh tourists this year is indicative of its potential in the travel and tourism sector.
