Union minister Gadkari reviews progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway in Punjab

AMRITSAR: When the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway is operational, it will take four hours to get to Amritsar from Delhi and six hours to get to Katra from Delhi, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited the project on Thursday. According to the minister of road transport and highways, this 669-kilometer greenfield motorway connecting Delhi, Amritsar, and Katra is being developed at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. After it is finished, it takes four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours to go from Delhi to Katra, he said. The current distance is 727 kilometres between Delhi to Katra. According to Gadkari, the new route's construction will cut the journey by 58 miles.According to Gadkari, the motorway is 399 km long in Punjab, of which 296 km have already seen construction. Of that length, over 137 km are in Haryana. According to him, there are 135 km of motorway in Jammu and Kashmir, 120 km of which are currently under construction. The motorway would cross industrial districts in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, and Ludhiana. According to the minister, one unique aspect of this corridor is the 1,300-meter cable-stayed bridge across the Beas River, which is the longest in Asia.Major religious sites such as the Golden Temple, the well-known Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu, the Sultanpur Lodhi Gurdwara in the Kapurthala district, the Goindwal Sahib Gurdwara, the Khandur Sahib Gurdwara, and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Tarn Taran) will all be connected by the motorway. He stated that improved connection from Tarn Taran to the Amritsar airport will be made possible by the 50-km, four-lane bypass route, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,475 crore. According to the minister, this bypass will be able to reduce traffic in Amritsar and enhance mobility.The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway, according to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was also present on this occasion, will herald a new era of unparalleled growth and wealth in the state. He added that the project will significantly boost regional economic activity and create new job opportunities for young people. NEW DELHI: After the Jammu-Srinagar line is operational, Vande Bharat services are anticipated to be launched in Srinagar later this fiscal year, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on Thursday. CIK raids several locations in Kashmir, says social media misused for threats

SRINAGAR: On Thursday, searches were carried out at five different places in the Kashmir districts of Kupwara, Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama by Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK). According to a source in P/S CIK Srinagar, the searches were carried out in accordance with a search warrant that was acquired from the Court of Special Judge Designated under the NIA Act Srinagar in case FIR No. 07/2023 U/S 153-A, 505, 506 IPC, 13, 18, 18-B, and 39 UAPA. He stated that the matter involves a "deep conspiracy hatched by terrorist organisation (s) with their associates in Kashmir valley in conspiracy with handlers sitting across who are uploading criminal content on different social media platforms which are not only seditious in nature but are also spreading anti India narrative aiming at glorifying/glamorizing terrorists and also inciting and luring gullible youths to take up arms against sovereignty of India by joining terrorist ranks.""During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that some of these individuals/entities were profiling individuals, especially those who would like to take a different and independent stand against secessionists or terrorists and who are in support of peace, order and a violence free society, as legitimate targets of vilification and violence," stated the official. According to him, these anti-national groups are also victimising legitimate government employees in Kashmir and continuously threatening to destroy their person, reputation, or property in order to keep them from carrying out their legally mandated tasks. These threats might be made in a clear or covert manner."During the course of preliminary investigation, it was also revealed that through these Facebook accounts, these associates of terrorist organization(s) are promoting feeling of enmity and disharmony among different religious and regional groups and provoking youth to indulge in large scale violence and disturbance against the peace and tranquilly of Kashmir." Incriminating materials, including electronic devices and other items relevant to the case investigation, were found and recovered during the searches, he said. "Data analysis would come next, and any leads that surfaced would serve as the foundation for additional research.According to the official, searches are intended to destroy the terror ecosystem in the valley by locating those who pose a threat to state security and peace and who encourage or assist terrorists by enticing impressionable youth to join the cause. Speaking at the National Centre for Good Governance's 6th Capacity Building Programme for J&K Administrative Services Officers in the nation's capital, the Union Minister urged the officers to identify programmes that share commonalities and implement an integrated approach to execution for improved efficiency and results that will benefit the average person.Singh noted that the democratisation of resources and the introduction of technology, even in remote and rural areas, have changed the demographics of the state and central civil services. As a result, he claimed, more and more top performers in the central civil services come from states like Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir. According to Singh, the present goals of Indian public policy are to improve accountability and openness in government, with a particular emphasis on fiscal federalism, rural development, and public service delivery excellence. "India has made improvements to its grievance redressal systems to make them more contemporary and has made an effort to strengthen its institutions and streamline administrative procedures in order to allay any residual feelings of injustice resulting from administrative actions. The minister stated, "To this end, digital advancement has made it possible for citizens to file grievances." Singh has pledged to introduce a call centre strategy in Jammu and Kashmir, which is presently in use at the Centre, in order to directly determine the degree of satisfaction of the individuals who have had their issues resolved. The minister discussed the Digital India plan, stating that it is focused on three main vision areas: digital infrastructure as a basic service provided to all residents, on-demand government and services, and citizen empowerment through digital means.According to him, the ultimate objective is to make sure that digital technologies enhance the quality of life for each and every Indian, grow the digital economy in India, and generate investment and job opportunities while utilising the nation's untapped technological and digital potential. According to the minister, Digital India has significantly narrowed the distance between the public and the government and has made it easier to provide significant services to recipients in an open, honest, and corruption-free manner. "In the process, India has emerged as one of the pre-eminent nations of the world to use technology to transform the lives of its citizens," Singh stated.He maintained that the Centre has maintained a "zero tolerance approach to corruption," bringing greater transparency to government processes, enhanced supervision, and severe penalties in cases of proven misconduct. He said that the new age competency of civil servants has to be anchored in ethics and accountability. "India's Legislative and Constitutional Framework to fight corruption has been greatly strengthened with a mandatory declaration of assets by civil servants on an annual basis, thereby focusing on preventive vigilance," said the minister. At the event, V Srinivas, secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), stated that the training serves as a forum for group learning and sharing with the goal of raising people's standard of living. In addition, he underscored the necessity of inclusive, rapid development for resilient growth and the significance of technology in improving residents' quality of life. According to Srinivas, the officials had to construct a conceptual framework to address the demands and aspirations of the populace and strive towards the state's overall growth. At NCGG, the sixth capacity building programme began on October 9 and will end on October 20. Thirty-seven JKAS officers—including CEOs, directors, joint commissioners, secretaries, special secretaries, additional secretaries, and mission directors—are in attendance at the event.Ayushman Bharat, digital India, skill India, artificial intelligence in government, poverty eradication, rural housing, Jal Jeevan Mission, digital India, anti-corruption strategies, vigilance administration, circular economy, revitalization of rivers, innovation & entrepreneurship, etc. are just a few of the important topics that civil servants in Jammu & Kashmir discussed with domain experts during this programme. Srinagar, Oct 19: In the Budgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, police on Thursday detained a man posing as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and misleading the public, according to officials. On October 18, 2023, a resident of Aalipora Putlibagh named Ghulam Hassan Malik reportedly filed an official written complaint with Budgam Police Station regarding an alleged impersonation scheme. According to police, the applicant said that Ayush Koul, also known as "Vicky," who lives at Rose Lane No. 6, Rajbagh, Srinagar, had deceived him out of INR 6.5 lakh by pretending to be an IAS officer and using the false pretence to get the applicant's son hired by the government.An FIR No. 302/2023 was filed in police station Budgam in response to the complaint, in accordance with sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). After the main suspect, Ayush Koul, was captured during the inquiry, it became clear that Koul had an accomplice, Burhan Bashir, a Nundresh Colony, Bemina resident. They said Burhan Bashir and Ayush Koul were also taken into custody. In order to prevent falling victim to fraudulent schemes, police have asked the people to be cautious and watchful, and to confirm the credentials of anyone making such claims.The police urged anyone with relevant knowledge about this case to come forward and help with the current inquiry. 1 dead, 3 injured in road accident in Doda

DODA: Officials said today that a road accident in Bulandpur village, Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, had left one person dead and three injured. According to an official, a car with the licence plate JK06B 6028 was involved in an accident close to Khasal while travelling to Charota Bulandpur. He claimed that after being pulled from the automobile in serious condition, the four occupants were sent to a nearby Assar medical facility, where one of them was pronounced dead. Maneel Kumar, son of Choor Singh of Nagvas Assar, was identified as the deceased. SRINAGAR : Rakesh Balwal, who was returned to his parent cadre, was replaced as SSP Srinagar on Wednesday by Ashish Kumar Mishra (IPS). "In pursuance of the approval of Competent Authority for pre-mature repatriation of Shri Rakesh Balwal, IPS (MA:2012) from AGMUT Cadre, to his parent cadre i.e. Manipur cadre, the Officer is relieved from the Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, to enable him to join his parent cadre," stated an official order. "In light of the aforementioned, the following postings and transfers are now ordered with immediate effect in the interest of administration: Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra, IPS (AGMUT:13), is being assigned as Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS (AGMUT:14), AIG (CIV) Police Headquarters, is transferred and assigned as Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag."The government also issued an order relieving Imtiaz Ismail Parray of his duties as DIV in Sashastra Seema Bal. "Consequent upon the approval of the Competent Authority for appointment of Shri Imtiaz Ismail Parray, IPS (AGMUT: 2009), DIG (Training) Police Headquarters, as Deputy Inspector General in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), on deputation basis, for a period of five years from the date of the assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the Officer is relieved from the Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, to enable him to take up the new assignment at the Centre," stated "It is further ordered that Ms. Sarah Rizvi, IPS (AGMUT:2008), DIG IR, Jammu, shall hold the charge of the post of DIG (Training) Police Headquarters, in addition to her own duties, till further orders."
