BSF lodges protests with Pak Rangers over unprovoked cross-border firing along IB in Jammu

JAMMU: Two BSF troops were hurt in unprovoked cross-border firing at a forward station along the Indo-Pak border here, and as a result, the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Rangers have submitted a protest, according to officials on Friday. At a commandant-level flag meeting on Thursday night at a border outpost (BoP) along the International Border (IB) in the R S Pura sector, the BSF and Pakistan Rangers discussed the matter, according to a statement. 3 dead as car falls into gorge in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR : In the Kishtwar district on Friday, a car carrying three people went off the road and into a gorge, killing the occupants. Three people lost their lives in an accident with the Alto automobile (Jk06B-I909) this afternoon close to Kandni Kishtwar. They are Dhyan Singh of Gandho, Madan Lal of Sarror, and Rakesh Kumar of Badano Thatri. A police official confirmed it, stating that an investigation has been launched and a case has been filed. Samba police arrests four hard core criminals

SAMBA: Four virulent attackers who killed a woman and police under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana and Police Station, Vijaypur, respectively, have been apprehended by police under the general supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Benam Tosh. The Rakh Barotian Vijaypur residents Mohammad Ashraf, alias Ashu, son of Roshan Din, Liaqat Ali, alias Laaki, son of Babur, and Mam Hussain, son of Babu, have all been recognised as the apprehended culprits. One other criminal has also been identified.Four hardened criminals have been apprehended: three were involved in an attack on police in case FIR No.132/2023 U/Ss 307, 382, 332, 353, 148, 149, 34 IPC of Police Station Vijaypur; during their patrol duty, the heroin smugglers and their supporters attacked them near Rakh Barotian last month. Another criminal was apprehended in case FIR No.247/2023 U/Ss 307, 452, 323, 147, 506 IPC of Police Station, Bari Brahmana, where a woman was attacked with a sharp object, leaving her critically injured and requiring hospitalisation.The police team led by SHO Vijaypur, Sandeep Charak, and SHO Bari Brahmana, Sumit Sharma, with the oversight of SDPO Vijaypur, Rohit Kumar, SDPO Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary, has apprehended the hardened offenders. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, Samba police have apprehended 142 hardened offenders in the last nine months, and the district's miscreants, criminals, and Gunda members are all facing severe legal consequences. 4 dead after truck falls off bridge in Jammu

JAMMU:According to accounts, a truck went off a bridge in Jammu on Friday, killing four people. The tragedy happened on the Jhajjarkotli NH44, according to an official. A truck with the registration number RJ13GB/5654 lost control, struck the bridge divider, and then fell from a height of around 80 feet. The truck's conductor and driver were both pronounced dead at the spot, according to the official. Two more bodies that had been found and removed were found when the police squad arrived. Terror suspect held in Kathua

SRINAGAR:  Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the much anticipated Vistadome train services in Kashmir. Union minister Gadkari reviews progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway in Punjab

AMRITSAR: When the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway is operational, it will take four hours to get to Amritsar from Delhi and six hours to get to Katra from Delhi, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited the project on Thursday. According to the minister of road transport and highways, this 669-kilometer greenfield motorway connecting Delhi, Amritsar, and Katra is being developed at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. After it is finished, it takes four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours to go from Delhi to Katra, he said. The current distance is 727 kilometres between Delhi to Katra. According to Gadkari, the new route's construction will cut the journey by 58 miles.According to Gadkari, the motorway is 399 km long in Punjab, of which 296 km have already seen construction. Of that length, over 137 km are in Haryana. According to him, there are 135 km of motorway in Jammu and Kashmir, 120 km of which are currently under construction. The motorway would cross industrial districts in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, and Ludhiana. According to the minister, one unique aspect of this corridor is the 1,300-meter cable-stayed bridge across the Beas River, which is the longest in Asia.Major religious sites such as the Golden Temple, the well-known Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu, the Sultanpur Lodhi Gurdwara in the Kapurthala district, the Goindwal Sahib Gurdwara, the Khandur Sahib Gurdwara, and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Tarn Taran) will all be connected by the motorway. He stated that improved connection from Tarn Taran to the Amritsar airport will be made possible by the 50-km, four-lane bypass route, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,475 crore. According to the minister, this bypass will be able to reduce traffic in Amritsar and enhance mobility.The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway, according to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was also present on this occasion, will herald a new era of unparalleled growth and wealth in the state. He added that the project will significantly boost regional economic activity and create new job opportunities for young people. The state government has already given the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) all of its assistance to see the project through to completion. Mann expressed optimism that the project will provide the state's trade and commerce with a much-needed boost. He claimed that the project will move forward much faster thanks to the Union minister's assistance.
