Big jolt to NC in Jammu region, top leaders join BJP

JAMMU: Major NC leaders led by Sanjeev Khajuria, also known as Romi Khajuria, who has been the party's District President for Kathua (Rural) for the past 35 years, shocked the Jammu region when they joined the Bharatiya Janata Party alongside hundreds of supporters and their district and Mandal office bearers. At the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina welcomed the new members into the party together with party General Secretaries Advocate Vibodh Gupta and Dr. Devender Manyal, veteran leader Devinder Singh Rana, and former Minister Prem Sagar Aziz.As he greeted the newcomers, Ravinder Raina stated that the BJP had worked for the development of all people, regardless of geography or religion. He claimed that the people in Kashmir and Jammu hold the BJP emblem in great regard and have faith in the Modi administration. According to Raina, Sanjeev Khajuria is a seasoned politician with decades of experience in the public sector. The party is confident that Khajuria will advance the BJP's mission to serve the people and the country, and he will stop at nothing to ensure that the BJP receives the greatest number of votes and support possible in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to Devender Singh Rana, the BJP extends a warm welcome to all newcomers, and these individuals quickly come to identify as members of the BJP family, a testament to the selflessness of BJP activists. With Sanjeev Khajuria's addition, Prem Sagar Aziz said the local BJP unit is now even stronger and that the development projects in the area will be intensified. SAMBA: Under DC Abhishek Sharma's direction, the Geology and Mining Department Samba launched a major effort to stop illicit mining activities in the area. Six dumpers and four tractor-trollies were seized as a result of the day-long campaign; they are currently being held by the police while the penalties are being realised. A number of other cars were also immediately fined for various infractions found during the operation. Penalty notifications totaling almost Rs 70 lakh have been sent in the last few days to a large number of stone crushers for various geology and mining code infractions.By enforcing compliance and discouraging any illicit mining, transportation, or stockpiling of minerals, these strict rules hope to protect and preserve our natural ecosystem. The goal of the enforcement actions is to uphold the regulations pertaining to mining and geology, guarantee sustainable operations, and protect the Samba District's natural equilibrium. The public has been strongly encouraged to only purchase minerals from authorised suppliers and to make sure that the purchase is accompanied with the appropriate e-challans. The lawful acquisition of minerals through legitimate e-challans makes a substantial contribution by citizens towards the conservation of natural resources and the safeguarding of public funds. 4 lakh penalty recovered from vehicles involved in illegal mining

KATHUA: Today, a group from the Geology and Mining department, under the direction of District Mineral Officer (DMO) Rajinder Singh Rana, began taking legal action against one JCB and fourteen vehicles involved in illicit mining and transportation. In the Mager Khad areas, a JCB machine was confiscated and fined for excavating more than 1000 MT of river bed material. Two dumpers were seized for moving minerals without e-challans, while a Mega Engineering Company tipper was detained in Hatli for lifting clay without the proper paperwork. Similarly, according to legal documents presented by the drivers of the trucks, 13 Punjab-based trucks were fined at the toll post in Lakhanpur for loading crushed aggregate and screened sand beyond the carrying capacity. The fine was collected from the trucks immediately.Tipper drivers were instructed not to engage in the unlawful or unapproved transportation of minerals during the Lakhanpur checkpoint. Instead, they were to load minerals strictly in accordance with the valid e-challans and GST bills. According to the DMO, mining guards have been assigned to all mining sites and hotspots where mining operations are conducted. He further mentioned that a permanent naka has been established in Lakhanpur to monitor dumpers heading into Punjab. New Delhi, Jan 28: According to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the construction of the 700-meter-long Naushera tunnel on the Akhnoor-Poonch National Highway (NH-144A) represents a significant advancement for the "Golden Arc Road." The amount of time needed for the construction of the tunnel's two ends to meet is called the breakthrough. According to BRO, the 200 km Golden Arc Road connects the south Kashmir-Jammu region to the west of Jammu. It is an ancient and extremely significant route. With the groundbreaking ceremony for the Naushera Tunnel on Sunday, "the construction of a pivotal infrastructure project National Highway-144A connecting Akhnoor to Poonch reached a significant milestone," according to BRO.Golden Arc Road, according to the government, links the border districts of Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor. SRINAGAR, Jan 28: The next 24 hours are expected to bring light to moderate rain and snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar. The minimum temperature at several stations throughout the Kashmir valley has significantly improved. The weather is currently gloomy with light rain and snow in certain areas, including the Gulmarg ski resort.According to the MeT office, from Sunday afternoon to January 29 late afternoon, there is a chance of light to moderate rain or snow in many areas of J&K, with heavy snowfall possible over isolated higher reaches of the Kashmir Division, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Shopian, Anantnag, and Kulgam districts. While the weather will remain mostly cloudy with light rain or snow at many places towards late afternoon or evening on February 1-2, it was stated that from January 30-31, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snow at many places in J&K, with chances of heavy snowfall over a few higher reaches. Many locations in J&K may have light to moderate rain or snow between February 3 and 4.The MeT office reported that from January 28 (night) to January 31 (afternoon), there is a chance of sporadic light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder or lightning in the plains of Jammu Division, along with light snowfall over higher reaches and significant snowfall over isolated higher reaches. Additionally, an advice has been released stating that, especially between January 28 and 31, the weather system may result in the temporary closure of highways in higher reaches and significant passes, such as Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, Sadhna and Razdan Pass, Zojila, etc. The MeT office cautioned travellers to arrange their trip appropriately.Farmers have been advised not to use fertiliser or irrigation during the period of wet weather, and to remove surplus water from fields and orchards. It said that throughout that period, daytime temperatures will noticeably drop. On Sunday, Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, saw a low that was 4.3 degrees Celsius above average as opposed to the usual -1.0 degrees. Srinagar's minimum temperature from the previous day was 13.3°C, which is 5.8°C warmer than typical for this time of year. The other Valley stations' lows, as reported by the MeT office, were -0.6?C at Qazigund, -0.8?C at Pahalgam, 2.1?C at Kupwara, -0.1?C at Kokernag, and -3.5?C at Gulmarg.
