JAMMU, Jan 4: In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces have reinforced border surveillance by installing special checkposts along the borders in order to thwart all evil schemes of the enemy, including attempts at infiltration that take advantage of fog. According to official sources, security forces have organised a winter strategy that will bolster surveillance along the International Border and the Line of Control in anticipation of cloudy days. This is intended to thwart attempts by intruders to infiltrate from across the fence. According to sources, "as dense fog grips the region, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in conjunction with the Army and other sister concern agencies, have chalked out a winter mechanism to foil infiltration attempts being made from across the fence."They claimed that terrorists try to cross this side of the border by taking advantage of the thick fog, but a clever winterization system has been put in place to foil their plans. Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the district magistrate of Reasi, also requested that within the same time frame, the proprietors of hotels, guest houses, restaurants, dhabas, shopping centres, and other commercial establishments at Katra and Ransoo provide the police station and tehsildars with the employee records of their respective establishments. The well-known shrines of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at Katra and Shri Shiv Khori Shrine at Ransoo Tehsil in Pouni are located in the Reasi district, and a sizable number of pilgrims from all over the nation visit them every day.The district magistrate stated in a Tuesday order that installing CCTV would improve public safety, prevent terrorist attacks, and aid in the control of crime. "The installation of CCTV outside such establishments would work as a force multiplier, which would inspire further confidence in general public/customers visiting these establishments to deter criminals, anti-social and anti-national elements from committing crimes," Mahajan said, ordering the CCTVs to be installed within 21 days.
