IED Device Caused Blast At Convention Centre In Kerala: State Police Chief

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 29:An improvised explosive device (IED) was the cause of the explosion at a convention centre in Kerala on Sunday that left one person dead and 36 injured, according to state DGP Shaik Darvesh Saheb. Reporters were informed by the State Police Chief that an IED was the cause of the explosion based on the results of an initial investigation. "We're looking into it," he stated. According to the DGP, "there was an explosion this morning at approximately 9:40 am in the Zamrah International Convention Centre in Kalamassery in which one person died and 36 people are undergoing treatment."There were differing accounts regarding the quantity of explosions, though. State Ministers V N Vasavan and Antony Raju reported two bombs, but Congress MP Hibi Eden from Ernakulam claimed many explosives based on an account from one of his colleagues who attended the convention. The ministers stated, "What they have told us is that there were two blasts according to the initial findings." When questioned if it was a terror attack, the DGP responded that he was unable to comment at this time. "I can only verify the specifics following the investigation. We are looking at every angle. The senior police official declared, "We're going to find out who's behind this and we're going to take tough action against them." In addition, he requested people to refrain from posting offensive or hateful content on social media and to keep the peace and remain composed. He cautioned that disseminating hateful or inflammatory content on social media will result in harsh punishment. The DGP added that a Special Investigative Team (SIT) will be assembled as soon as he arrived at the scene of the explosion. Vasavan and Raju, meanwhile, informed the reporters that the NIA was among the numerous central agencies on the site. They added that there were about 2,300 individuals in attendance when the event happened, at roughly 9:38 a.m. on the final day of the convention. The ministers, which included state Revenue Minister K Rajan, said that at the time of the explosion, individuals were closing their eyes in prayer. They said that attendees of the event travelled from all around the state. The explosions happened at the Jehovah's Witnesses convention, a Christian organisation that was founded in the United States in the 1800s. BCCI imposes 2yrs ban on J&K cricketer: JKCA

JAMMU:A cricket player from Jammu and Kashmir was banned on Saturday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), purportedly for submitting multiple birth certificates. In a press release released on Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) said that Bishnah, Jammu resident and cricketer Vanshaj Sharma has been banned by the BCCI for submitting several birth certificates with different dates of birth. According to a release from Brig Anil Gupta Member Administration JKCA, "For this act, he has been banned from participating in all BCCI tournaments for a period of two years from October 27." Brig Gupta announced that the player would not be permitted to play in any age group BCCI competitions after serving a two-year ban and would only be eligible to compete in the Senior Men's Tournament run by the BCCl.The JKCA official went on to say that Vanshaj Sharma moved to another state in this particular circumstance and applied there to join the Bihar U-23 Men's squad. Brig Gupta clarified, however, that even though he had switched associations, he was still detected for presenting duplicate birth certificates because his data was accessible with the BCCI since he was initially registered by the JKCA in 2021–2022. 1 Dead, Over 20 Injured In Blast At Convention Centre In Kerala

NEW DELHI, Oct 29: The incident happened on a Sunday at a Jehovah's Witness prayer service at a convention centre in Kalamassery, Kochi. At least one person died and around 20 others were injured. It is reported that the dead was a lady. According to the local police, it is unknown what caused the explosion or if there were several explosions.According to reports, the incident happened at a convention centre connected to a Christian organisation. Around nine in the morning, authorities got a distress call asking for police support. Disturbing images of the incident that aired on television showed a massive response from police and fire rescue professionals, who worked tirelessly to get people out of the area. Horrifying photos from inside the convention centre showed numerous fires that were raging and individuals who were terrified and in a panic. All physicians and nurses who are on leave have been instructed to report to work right away by Kalamassery Medical College. The fact that so many people congregated outside the convention centre after the explosion underscored how serious the situation was. J&K Has Witnessed Zero Collateral Damage In Last 5 Years: DGP Dilbag

LETHPORA, Oct 28: Police head Dilbag Singh stated here on Saturday that throughout the previous five years, there has been a decrease in terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as no events involving law enforcement or collateral damage. The DGP released a report card on terror, stating that 30 terror-related crime occurrences have occurred in Jammu & Kashmir this year."Of the 21 stations chosen for the initial OCAPs phase, 17 were completely free of terror—that is, 100 percent free of dread. Four terror events happened at just four police stations: one in Pulwama and three in Srinagar. "Since these four occurrences only happened in January and February, the previous eight months have likewise been completely terror-free. Thus, for the past eight months, none of the 21 have experienced panic," he stated. According to Singh, there have only been three incidences in the 22 police stations chosen for the second phase, all of which have occurred in Anantnag areas."As of right now, there is no dread in any of the 12 areas where OCAPs have been implemented. 19 of these stations have not had any terror attacks in the past 12 months. Only seven police stations had seven instances, and 36 stations remained terror-free overall, he continued. According to Singh, OCAP is a police mission. He declared, "These teams will strengthen the police station's authority and serve as a powerful arm of the SHO." Regarding the state of affairs, Singh stated that the adversary is keeping an eye on the growing calm in Jammu and Kashmir. NEW DELHI: Dilip Mahadu Gavit won a gold medal on Saturday, marking the 100th medal won by Indian para-athletes at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou. In the Men's 400m T47 event, Gavit took home the gold medal. With a great run time of 49.48 seconds, he won the coveted gold. This is the Indian para contingent's most successful Para Asian Games campaign to date, having won 100 medals for the first time.
