MENDHAR/JAMMU, Feb 23: In the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, an Army patrol demolished a corroded landmine using a controlled explosion on Friday, according to officials. They added that on Thursday, in the Mankote sector's Balnoi area, a landmine was discovered next to the border fence. Experts were called in, according to the government, and the landmine was removed. The front areas are peppered with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration barrier system; the officials indicated that occasionally, the landmines are washed away by rain and also cause unintentional detonation. SRINAGAR: The Prime minister Narendra Modi, has created fresh opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, according to BJP national general secretary and in-charge of the region Tarun Chugh. According to Chugh, Jammu and Kashmir has advanced to a new level following the repeal of Article 370. Seeing this growth, the National Conference (NC), in particular, is uneasy and does not want the people living in the Union Territory to succeed. His words, "When the Abdullah dynasty was ruling Jammu and Kashmir, they were the first to suppress the youth and implicate them in false cases, due to which Anger arose in them towards mainstream India," were a strong attack on the NC for suppressing the youth of Jammu and Kashmir during his time.The Gupkar Gang marginalised and coerced the young people of Jammu and Kashmir to use violent means. Mining department seizes 06 trucks for gypsum theft at Kathua

KATHUA: At the Lakhanpur toll booth here today, the Geology and Mining department seized a total of 06 trucks that were filled with gypsum for unauthorised mineral transportation. Six trucks were detained by District Mineral Officer (DMO) Rajinder Singh and mineral guards during routine inspection at Lakhanpur for failing to produce the necessary legal documents. The trucks were subsequently seized after the drivers were given a chance to present documentation and other supporting evidence. It was advised that all seized trucks were turned over to the police post in Lakhanpur following the required legal procedures, and that they would stay there until the Joint Director Office in Jammu realised the penalty and took other appropriate measures.The DMO added that although the vehicles were headed for Punjab after being loaded with gypsum in Samba areas, they lacked the proper documentation needed to move minerals from one place to another. Deputy Commissioner Kathua and Director Geology and Mining, J&K were promptly informed about the illicit transportation of gypsum from the mining leases as well as from the locations of unlicensed dealers who offer such material in contravention of regulations after seizing the trucks.
