New Delhi, Oct 31: Virat Kohli, an Indian batsman who is about to tie Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 hundreds in one-day international cricket, has said that he never imagined amassing so many hundreds in just the past 12 years.During the current ODI World Cup, Kohli has been outstanding, amassing 354 runs in six games, including a century (his 48th) against Bangladesh in Pune. But after being removed for a duck during the match against England on Sunday, Kohli added unwelcome statistics to his ODI World Cup career. It was the first time in the tournament’s history. In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Kohli shared his thoughts on the trajectory of his career.“When it comes to cricket, I never imagined reaching my current level of success and realising how fortunate I am to have had such a long career and record of accomplishments,” added Kohli. “Nobody can plan these things, the way your journey is going, or the way things unfold in front of you. I had always dreamed I’d do this, but I never thought things would pan out this way exactly.” In these twelve years, I never would have imagined that I would score so many hundreds and runs,” he remarked.In addition, Kohli set a record for the fastest hitter to reach 26,000 runs in a cricket career. This milestone was reached in 567 innings by him.
