JAMMU, Oct 11: On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, a police official reported that an Army soldier in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district had passed away after being shot with his own service rifle close to the Line of Control (LoC). In the Mankote Sector, Sepoy Amritpal Singh was sent to a forward station. Around five in the morning, his coworkers heard a gunshot and discovered him in a pool of blood, the official said.Singh was killed by a gunshot fired from his own service rifle, according to preliminary investigations, he claimed. The official stated that it is under investigation to determine whether the soldier committed suicide or died as a result of an unintentional discharge from his weapon. He stated that an inquest has been opened by the police to uncover the facts.
