NEW DELHI, Sept 18: The success of the G20 Summit held here, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was due to the 140 crore Indians who made up the nation, not any one person or political group. As he opened the Lok Sabha debate on “Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha — Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings,” he greeted the delegates and guests by mentioning the federal system, diversity, and many state administrations. A summit of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the G20 nations would shortly be conducted, he added. “The 140 crore Indians are responsible for the G-20’s success. This is India’s prosperity, not the success of any one person or political group. In order to display the many hues of India, more than 200 meetings were held at 60 different locations thanks to India’s federal structure and diversity, Prime Minister Modi said. Everyone should rejoice over this achievement, he said, and India should be pleased that the African Union joined the G20 when it held the presidency. The prime minister recalled the emotional moment when the African Union’s (entering the G20) announcement was made and the president of the organisation stated he would probably cry while speaking. Modi also discussed the G20 declaration consensus that was reached. Many people, he claimed, had predicted that the G20 summit would not result in a declaration. But this is India’s strength, an agreement was reached on a declaration.According to PM Modi, the P20 summit of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the G20 countries would take place soon. India is now holding the G20 chair until November. According to Modi, India is now the world’s friend. Modi remarked, referring to the old Parliament building where he was speaking, that although foreign rulers had decided to build it, the Indian people had put in a lot of effort, sweat and money to get it done. The Imperial Legislative Council was the previous name of this structure. It became the Parliament building after Independence, he claimed.Many democratic customs have developed over the past 75 years, and everyone in the House has contributed to them, according to Modi.
