NEW DELHI: PM Modi on Wednesday paid homage to BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary and said India greatly benefited from his leadership.In paying respect to the former leader, Modi noted that he was instrumental in advancing India’s development and bringing it into the twenty-first century in a variety of fields. He remarked, “I join the 140 crore people of India in honouring the extraordinary Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi. Vajpayee, the first BJP prime minister, is credited with popularising the party outside of its core and effectively leading a coalition government for six years, during which he promoted reforms and improved infrastructure. At the age of 93, he passed away in 2018.
