Tortured by wife, UP man installs camera for proof, video leads to her arrest

LUCKNOW: A woman in Uttar Pradesh‘s Bijnor was arrested for torturing her husband and burning his body parts with a cigarette after tying him up. The woman, identified as Mehar Jahan, was arrested by Seohara district police on May 5 following a complaint filed by her husband. The husband, Manan Zaidi, alleged that Mehar drugged him, and tied his hands and legs before burning his body parts with a cigarette. The husband provided police with CCTV footage from inside the house, which shows Mehar Jahan physically assaulting him, tying his hands and feet, and attempting to strangle him while sitting on his chest. Later in the video, she can be seen burning her husband’s body parts with a cigarette. Manan Zaidi claimed he filed a complaint with the police earlier as well, accusing his wife of subjecting him to torment by administering intoxicants, tying his hands and feet, and subjecting him to abuse. The police registered a case against Mehar Jahan under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including attempted murder, assault, and torture, and have taken her into custody. “Based on the complaint, the police have registered a report against the accused woman under relevant sections and arrested her. Further action is being taken,” Superintendent of Police Dharampal Singh said.
