New Delhi, Mar 12: The Shopian Bypass on National Highway-444 in Jammu & Kashmir would be built with funding approved at a rate of Rs 224.44 crore, according to a Tuesday announcement made by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari. This development in the Shopian area will be carried out under the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) system. It will consist of a 2-lane stretch spanning 8.925 kilometres. The project connects the Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir to Pulwama on one side and Kulgam on the other, according to the minister, and it also has strategic importance.By enabling quick delivery of goods to markets, it is expected to greatly assist apple growers in south Kashmir, especially in the Shopian area, which is referred to as the “Apple Bowl of the Valley.” He went on to say that more road safety precautions and better connectivity are among the overall effects.
