27-FEB : In an effort to promote and inculcate skills among students, Department of Home Science, Government Degree College For Women, Kathua, in collaboration with IQAC and IIC has taken an initiative to organize an Entrepreneurship Development event in the college premises on 27.02.2024. Dr. Deepti Salotra, Assistant Professor in Home Science aware the students of different streams about Home Science education that it provides different skills, lifelong teaching for self-development, employment and income earning opportunities in different areas of Home Science. Under this event, Home Science students have displayed different mouthwatering food stalls, diet for BP patients and for Diabetic patients, Best out of waste items, handcrafted products and many more that covers different branches of Home Science, with the aim that hone their entrepreneurial skills. The programme was organized under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Inderjeet Kour, Incharge Principal of the college. She expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating that it’s a platform that instills entrepreneurial skills in our students, preparing them for real-world challenges. She also encouraged the students to participate in all such events where they are groomed to keep up with the spirit of entrepreneurship and ‘Earn while they Learn’. She commend the Home Science Department for their efforts in fostering holistic education. The event was graced by Prof. Ashwani Khajuria, Dr. Babita Mahajan, Dr. Rachna Devi, Prof. Romika Bassin, Prof. Yash Paul, Dr. Deepshikha, Dr. Ambica, Dr. Karam Chand, Dr. Surbhi Gupta, Dr. Kamini Kapoor, Dr. Mukesh Kumari, Dr. Surekha Rani, Dr. Usha Kiran and Dr.Rohit Kumar.
Dr. Deepti Salotra, Head of the Department of Home Science, emphasized the educational significance of the event, saying, “Our department is committed to providing a well-rounded education to our students and this event is a testament to our commitment.” She concluded the event with a vote of thanks to the chair and all the participants present over there.
