NEW DELHI, Feb 8: The ministry of home affairs (MHA) has decided to eliminate the Free Movement Regime (FMR) between India and Myanmar in order to protect the nation’s internal security, according to a statement made by Union minister Amit Shah on Thursday. Additionally, according to Amit Shah, the decision was made to preserve the demographic makeup of the northeastern Indian states that border Myanmar. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on X (formerly Twitter): “MHA has recommended the immediate suspension of the FMR since the Ministry of External Affairs is currently in the process of scrapping it.”.
