SRINAGAR: The local meteorological bureau has predicted rain and snow until March 14; on Monday night, Jammu and Kashmir's nighttime temperature increased and settled above average. According to a representative of the meteorological department, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 6.3°C, compared to 2.2°C the night before. According to the MeT official, the temperature was 3.0°C higher than usual for this time of year in J&K's summer capital. According to him, Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4°C, which was 2.2°C above average for the Kashmiri gateway town and 1.4°C higher than the previous night. In contrast to the previous night's low of minus 2.5°C, Pahalgam reported a low of 2.2°C, which was 3.6°C above average for the well-known south Kashmir resort. According to the official, Kokernag, which is located in south Kashmir, saw a minimum temperature of 4.4°C, which was 2.5°C above usual and compared to 1.8°C the night before. RAMBAN: For the second day in a row, traffic was prohibited on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Monday. Officials from the traffic department announced that until further orders are given, no traffic would be permitted on the Jammu-Srinagar national route, thus anybody planning to go should postpone their plans. On Saturday, the highway was stopped at 10 p.m. for repairs to damaged sections and to enlarge the carriageway in certain locations. Between Banihal and Ramban, there have been numerous landslides and stone-throwing incidents that have severely damaged the highway. In the meantime, traffic is still blocked and snow-bound on the Srinagar-Leh, Mughal Road, Sinthan-Kishtwar, Doda-Chamba, Bandipora-Gurez, and Kupwara-Tangdhar routes. JAMMU: Raman Bhalla, the working president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), has expressed the party's strong opposition, saying that the country cannot afford to allow it to continue in power through the 2024 elections. Speaking to the audience at Raipur Satwari, Bhalla charged that the government, led by the BJP, was forcing an illiberal and monolithic socio-political order on the populace because it was motivated by special interests. He called the policies of the Government "disastrous" and a "attack on the Constitution" and criticised them. Bhalla drew attention to the unrest that the BJP has caused in Jammu and Kashmir, where he claims that criticising government policy is met with allegations of being anti-national. He drew attention to the BJP's anti-poor and anti-youth policies as well as its inability to keep its word.The head of the Congress stressed the need of uniting to combat the BJP and defend federalism, democracy, and constitutional values. He cautioned against the "limited vision" of the BJP, saying that if it were to regain power, it would take the nation closer to dictatorship and deny its citizens their democratic rights. Recalling the accomplishments of past prime ministers like as Indira Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Rajiv Gandhi, Bhalla charged that the present government had failed miserably on every front of policy. Bhalla urged BJP officials not to pit one sect against another in order to win votes, criticising attempts to combine politics and religion. The Working President of the JKPCC urged cooperation in the fight to depose the BJP and reinstate secularism and democracy. He asked voters to weigh the social growth and development record of the Congress when making decisions in the next elections.
