Indian Air Force rescues two stranded mountaineers from Thajwas Glacier

SRINAGAR: An official statement said that Indian Air Force on Sunday rescued two injured civilian mountaineers from Thajwas Glacier.”In a swift and successful operation this evening, IAF ALH Mk III helicopter rescued two injured civilian mountaineers from Thajwas Glacier in the nick of time, one of whom had suffered multiple fractures, hypothermia, and other injuries.” The ground party discovered Faisal Wani and Zeeshan Mushtaq in a hostile area, where the chopper had no place to land and had to resort to a low hover operation, it said.IAF said that Air Force Station Srinagar, from which the helicopter was launched and the operation was managed, was in charge of the entire operation.
