J P Nadda in Jammu on Sunday will discuss BJP’s LS poll strategy for J&K with leaders

JAMMU: According to a leader, BJP president J P Nadda is coming to this area on Sunday for a daylong visit to discuss and finalise the party's plan for the Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha election. Nadda will start his tour by paying respects at the revered Raghunath temple in the centre of the city. Later, at the party headquarters here, he will preside over a meeting of senior members led by J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina. Along with the two Member Parliaments from J&K Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and Jugal Kishore Sharma, who have each won the party's seats in Udhampur and Jammu twice, National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, in charge of J&K, will also be present at the meeting.According to the leader mentioned earlier, the meeting's outcome will probably determine the party's Lok Sabha candidates. This decision will be made on the basis of an internal survey report that Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah received recently. He stated that the meeting's main goal would be to finalise the party's plan to oppose the INDIA bloc, which has indicated that it will field unified candidates to take on the BJP. According to the leader, the meeting will also cover Prime Minister Narendra Modi's planned visit to Jammu and Kashmir later this month or in early February. Before leaving for Delhi, he said, Nadda is expected to meet separately with Ashok Koul, the General Secretary (Organisation) and President of the J&K BJP. 2 Punjab Bookies Held For Rs 1.6 Cr Embezzlement From Govt Department In Jammu

Jammu, Jan 6: According to officials on Saturday, two brothers from Punjab have been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Crime Branch on charges of embezzling more than Rs 1.6 crore from a government department in this area. According to a spokesperson for the Jammu Crime Branch, the accused bookies, Jatin alias "Raja" and Jatinder alias "Poot," who had been avoiding capture for the previous four years, were taken into custody in the Mukerian area of Punjab. The spokesperson claimed that they were embroiled in an interstate bookie operation and embezzled money that a Jal Shakti department cashier was supposed to be collecting.He continued, "A complaint about embezzlement of Rs 1.64 crore out of the revenue collected as water charges in the city division led to the registration of a case against the accused in 2020." SRINAGAR: On Saturday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that he checks the electricity supply in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory every day. He added that the district of Srinagar has become an example for the nation as a whole. "I personally inspect Jammu & Kashmir's electrical supply. Every evening, I personally keep an eye on the supply scenario. At a function in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor stated, "I receive feedback on area-wise power supply." In addition to stating that there is no shortage of electricity in Jammu and Kashmir, he added that malfunctioning and damaged transformers are being fixed and replaced in a day. The LG Sinha praised the departing SMC Commissioner, Athar Aamir Khan, stating that Srinagar has undergone significant development and transformation and is now an inspiration to the rest of the nation. Couple, Child Die As SUV Falls Into Deep Gorge In Reasi

JAMMU, Jan 6: In the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, an SUV carrying a couple and their three-month-old child went off the road and into a 400-foot-deep ravine on Saturday, according to police. According to them, one person was seriously hurt in the incident. According to Station House Officer Suman Singh of Chassana, three people were killed and one injured when a Bolero Camper travelling from Tulli to Chassana fell into the gorge near the Zero Point at around 12:45 p.m. According to him, the car was reduced to a twisted pile of metal, and recovering the bodies proved to be difficult for the rescuers.According to Singh, the deceased have been identified as Zahid Ahmad (27), a resident of Mahore's Balmatkote village, his wife Sayra Akhter (26), and their three-month-old child. Mahore's Deval village resident Irfan Ahmad sustained injuries. The SHO stated that he has been admitted to a hospital and that his condition is critical. SRINAGAR: As a cold wave-like weather pattern descended upon the region on Saturday, officials reported that a thin layer of ice had formed on the surface of Dal Lake here and other bodies of water in Kashmir. On Friday night, the minimum temperature in a few areas of the valley fell below minus four degrees Celsius. The 40-day severe winter "Chilla-i-Kalan" that is currently affecting Kashmir causes temperatures to plummet, causing pipes and bodies of water to freeze. During this time, there is a greater chance of snowfall, and most places—especially the higher reaches—get a lot of snowfall. According to officials, the minimum temperature in Srinagar city on Friday night was minus 5.4 degrees Celsius, which was a decrease from the previous night's reading of minus 3 degrees Celsius. It was reported that on Friday night, the minimum temperature at the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir was 4.5 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the minimum recorded the night before in Qazigund, which recorded a low of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature of minus 6.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Pahalgam, in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir, which is one of the base camps for the yearly Amarnath Yatra. This is a decrease from the previous night's minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, according to reports. In Kokernag town, the lowest recorded temperature was -2.9 degrees Celsius, while in Kupwara, it was -5.4 degrees Celsius. It was difficult for the occupants of the houseboats at Dal Lake to break through the layer of ice covering the lake to get to the banks. In the Kashmir valley, pipes' water also froze in some areas. Due to the protracted dry spell that Kashmir has been experiencing, there was a 79% rainfall deficit in December. The majority of Kashmir's plains have not seen any snowfall, while the upper valley has seen less snowfall than normal. Up until January 12, the meteorological department has mostly predicted dry weather. The last day of "Chilla-i-Kalan" is January 31. After that, though, there will be two more rounds of cold: a 10-day "Chilla-i-Bachha" (baby cold) and a 20-day "Chilla-i-Khurd" (small cold). Amit Shah likely to visit Jammu on 9 Jan

JAMMU: On January 9, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to travel to Jammu to assess the state of security in J&K, paying special attention to Rajouri and Poonch. According to official sources, "The office of Union Home Minister has yet to confirm the schedule of his likely visit, which, in any case, is subject to fair weather conditions." He will arrive in Jammu immediately after to chair a high-level security review meeting, as per the provisional schedule. If the weather is favourable, he might travel to the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to obtain a firsthand account of the situation there. Before concluding his visit, he might also have discussions with senior J&K BJP leaders and officer-bearers, according to sources.BJP insiders stated, "There were tidings about his probable visit. But as of right now, nothing can be said for sure because his office has not yet provided a final approval. There is currently no confirmation of any meeting with BJP leaders or office bearers, even if he shows up for a security review. On January 7, however, J P Nadda, the president of the BJP party, will be in the region to discuss LS poll strategy with leaders of the J&K unit." The Union Home Minister presided over a review meeting on the security status of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on January 2 in the union capital following a recent terror attack there. Attendees at the meeting included Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief of Army Staff, Chief Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary, Chief (IB), Heads of CAPFs, Chief Secretary, and DGP of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. In order to neutralise the threat of terrorism, Shah had reviewed the security agencies' area dominance plan for Jammu and Kashmir during the meeting. He gave an order to bolster counterterrorism operations and emphasise the necessity of totally dismantling the terror eco-system while examining the security grid's operation and Jammu and Kashmir's overall security situation.
