2 Punjab Bookies Held For Rs 1.6 Cr Embezzlement From Govt Department In Jammu

Jammu, Jan 6: According to officials on Saturday, two brothers from Punjab have been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Crime Branch on charges of embezzling more than Rs 1.6 crore from government department in this area. According to spokesperson for the Jammu Crime Branchthe accused bookies, Jatin alias “Raja” and Jatinder alias “Poot,” who had been avoiding capture for the previous four years, were taken into custody in the Mukerian area of Punjab. The spokesperson claimed that they were embroiled in an interstate bookie operation and embezzled money that Jal Shakti department cashier was supposed to be collecting.He continued, “A complaint about embezzlement of Rs 1.64 crore out of the revenue collected as water charges in the city division led to the registration of case against the accused in 2020.”
