145 more test +ve for dengue

JAMMU: An additional 145 dengue cases were recorded on Thursday from various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the year's total to 3152. According to a health official, 78 instances were recorded today from the Jammu district alone, along with 33 cases from Udhampur, 15 cases from Kathua, 7 cases from Samba, 5 cases from Rajouri, 3 cases from Poonch, one case from each of the districts of Reasi, Doda, and Kishtwar, and one case from outside the UT. 126 adults and 19 kids are among the individuals who tested positive, he continued. According to him, out of the total 2168 cases reported thus far, the majority come from the Jammu district, followed by the Udhampur district (322 cases), Kathua (238 cases), and Samba (212 cases apiece)."There were 64 cases in Rajouri, 29 in Ramban, 27 in Reasi, 21 each in Poonch and Doda, 4 in Kishtwar, 15 in Kashmir and 27 from other parts of the country," added the official. The official added that a total of 1047 dengue patients had been hospitalised to the hospitals as of now, and that 928 of them had been released while 89 were still receiving treatment. The official stated that "the number of dengue cases is increasing every day" and recommended the public to prevent stagnant water from forming in and around their homes because this is where the mosquitoes that transmit dengue thrive. RSS chief arriving today on 3 days visit

JAMMU: Dr. Mohan Rao Bhagwat, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will be visiting for three days starting this evening. From the Jammu Airport, Dr. Bhagwat will immediately proceed to the RSS Headquarters at Keshaw Bhawan Amphalla. Ved Mandir and Keshaw Bhawan's entire complex has been made more secure, and the SSB and CRPF have seized control of it. Since the RSS chairman is one of the leaders who is now best secured and is safeguarded by Z + VVIP security, the RSS Jammu Headquarters have been declared outbound for guests when he is there. Upon his arrival in Jammu, Dr. Bhagwat will be greeted by senior Sangh officials led by Prant Pracharak, Rupesh Kumar.He may later interact informally at Keshaw Bhawan in the evening with senior J&K Sangh officials. According to sources, the following day Dr. Bhagwat will meet with top Sangh officials, including Prant Pracharak, Seh Prant Pracharak, and Pracharaks of all districts in J&K, to discuss the political situation in the two UTs of J&K and Ladakh. He will also ask for their full feedback on how the RSS and its subsidiary organisations operate. On October 14, he will also engage with the staff members of the parent organization's subsidiary organisations. Each organisation will have a three-minute time slot to speak with the Sangh chief, according to the sources. Dr. Bhagwat will also go to one of Jammu's historic shrines and offer prayers there.He will depart for Kathua in the afternoon of October 15 following a meeting with Swayam Sewaks. At the Kathua Sports Stadium, he will address roughly 5000 Swayam Sewaks from the Kathua and Samba districts. Additionally, he would go to a community outside of Kathua district and display the statue of Bharat Mata there. Sangh has been a part of the village for almost 70 years. The villagers will give the RSS chief a resounding welcome, and he will mingle with them and share a traditional meal with them before boarding the Rajdhani train to Delhi later that evening on October 15. CS for start of month long cleanliness drive in govt offices

SRINAGAR: Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the chief secretary, today requested that a month-long cleaning campaign be conducted at all UT government buildings and educational institutions. The GAD Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture Secretary, both Divisional Commissioners, and all Deputy Commissioners of the UT all attended the meeting. Dr. Mehta made it clear to the officials during a review of the Swachhta Mission in J&K that since our villages have been designated as ODF+ Model categories, it is crucial to make all of our offices clutter-free in addition to boosting their atmosphere and tidying up their surroundings. The Chief Secretary insisted that cleaning should be done professionally to make nearly 50000 workplace spaces, including government school buildings, clean and aesthetically pleasing. In addition to giving these buildings a facelift, which included mowing the grass and whitewashing both the interior and outside, he requested them to install trash cans. He emphasised the need to make the UT "litter-free" by criminalising street littering. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of making all the necessary preparations at the District and Divisional levels to receive these soil urns and send them onward for the construction of the National monument while reviewing the plans for sending block level Amrit Kalashs to New Delhi under "Meri Maati Mera Desh." He said that each rural and urban household's soil had been collected in accordance with the Ministry of Culture's regulations. Additionally, he requests that all young volunteers travelling to the national capital with their corresponding Amrit Kalashs from their blocks and ULBs be provided with uniform clothing. The timely destruction of documents in government offices was also noted by the Chief Secretary. He noted that by month's end, the number should increase to 99% from the overall disposal of roughly 96% of files. He demanded that there be no delays beyond the allotted times for each ceremony. He urged all the officials to regularly check the outstanding files in order to identify anyone who has a history of causing unnecessary delays. The Chief Secretary asked the Divisional Administration to maintain reliable electricity supply, rationing, and prompt snow removal during winters while reviewing winter readiness. In metropolitan regions, he ordered the replacement of broken transformers within eight hours, and in rural areas, within twenty-four. He requested that enforcement personnel keep a closer eye on unlawful activity. He said that in addition to taking steps to maintain an uninterrupted power supply to all smart metered residences where AT&C losses are within acceptable limits, the scheduled 8-hour cut in non-metered areas should also be ensured. He requested that an IEC campaign be launched in local and social media to inform people of the advantages of paying their power bills on time. He stated that it is important for people to be informed that borrowing Rs 31000 Cr to pay for energy purchases is having a negative impact on other people-centric policies. He implied that the students at UT are intelligent enough to comprehend and support the administration's initiatives. The Chief Secretary further urged the relevant district administrations to take all necessary steps to ensure that the winters in this region are bright. He requested that they promptly clear the snow from all the tourist destinations' access routes so that they can stay open to the public at all times. He also suggested that they furnish these locations with amenities like power and other services without causing any unnecessary inconveniences during the winter. Later, the Chief Secretary went over the celebration of Navratri preparations. He gave the government the go-ahead to implement all necessary procedures to ensure that this festival ran well. Droupadi Murmu visits Vaishno Devi; inaugurates skywalk, remodelled Parvati Bhawan

KATRA: On Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu visited the Vaishno Devi shrine and opened a skywalk and a renovated Parvati Bhavan at the shrine atop Trikuta hills in Reasi district, according to officials. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha accompanied the President, who is spending two days in Jammu and Kashmir, on his visit to the shrine. Anshul Garg, the CEO of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), gave Murmu a briefing on the projects. According to officials, the 200-meter skywalk will ease pilgrims' journeys by dividing the routes they take to get to the Bhawan and when they come back after visiting the shrine.The facility, which was finished at a cost of more than Rs 9.89 crore and is located 20 feet above track level, will aid in resolving the issue of a chaotic situation and multidirectional flow of pilgrims between Manokamna Bhawan and Gate No-3, which was the scene of a stampede on New Year's Day in 2022 in which 12 people lost their lives and 16 were injured. According to the officials, the skywalk was designed to ease the movement of pilgrims and aid in better crowd control at Bhawan at busy times. Parvati Bhawan has undergone a complete renovation that cost approximately Rs 15 crore, and it is a free service for pilgrims.To guarantee that pilgrims travel directly to the shrine after leaving their bags, it has been connected to the skywalk. Inter-state narco-module: Strong links traced from Kashmir to Punjab, says DGP Dilbag

JAMMU: The ties of the interstate narco-module arrested a few days ago have been tracked from north Kashmir's Kupwara area to Ludhiana in Punjab, according to Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh. Eight persons have been detained thus far, four from Kupwara and four from Punjab, according to him, and 30 kg of cocaine, Rs 5 crore in cash, 40 phoney licence plates for vehicles, passports, and a handgun made in Germany have all been found. DGP Singh announced during a news conference at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu that Ramban police recently stopped the car and found 30 kg of a substance similar to cocaine inside.The DGP stated, "Though the final report of FSL is awaited, it seems that the recovered substance is cocaine," adding that four people from the Kupwara region of northern Kashmir had been detained. "It was discovered over the course of the investigation that Kupwara district is linked to the inter-State narco-module. The preferred route for narco-smuggling through Kupwara is the Amrohi; the latest shipment was also smuggled through this route. The DGP stated that although there has been no proof of drugs being dropped by drones, there are reliable leads that indicate drugs have been physically carried. "We have registered 12 cases in the Amrohi area of Kupwara related to narco-terror," the DGP added.He claimed that following the detention of four Kupwara suspects, J&K police and Punjab police detained four more suspects, among them the main narcotics handler. Investigations revealed that the major suspect's father was a drug dealer as well. From the arrested individuals, we have retrieved Rs 5 crore in cash, 40 bogus licence plates, passports, and a revolver made in Germany, he said. When questioned about the number plates, the DGP stated that it appeared that they were used to fool the highway police when drugs were being moved from Kuwpara to Punjab. "The drivers of vehicles ferrying drugs would have been impersonating police officials given the police badges recovered and also the number plates of the vehicles would have been changed from one stop to another," he stated. He claimed that evidence has shown that drugs are being brought into Kashmir from across the Line of Control to promote and feed terrorists. "Links of all major terror organisations have come to fore in the racket," claimed the DGP. More arrests are probably going to be made as the investigations continue, he said. He claimed that drug consignments dropped by drones from the international border in the Jammu districts had been reported in some cases."With the arrest of eight accused, a big inter-state narco smuggling module has been busted," according to the DGP. The DGP responded to a question about the number of drug abusers in J&K by saying that although there is a legitimate study or census, a preliminary probe reveals there are 7 lakh drug users in J&K. Demining operation in Leh, 175 mines destroyed

LEH: According to officials, the Army carried out a demining operation in three locations within the Leh district and removed 175 mines. Locals in Ladakh who live along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) requested that this be done, hence it has been done. Tehsil Supply Officer detained taking bribe in Rajouri

RAJOURI: The Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO), Mohmmad Riyaz, was detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday after being exposed as accepting a Rs 18,000 bribe. In response to a complaint from a man who claimed that he had approached Dil Mohd, a ration dealer, to obtain a Below Poverty Line card for his brother, the ACB made the arrest. According to officials, the ration dealer and the complaint went to Tehsil Supply Officer Rajouri and presented the paperwork required for the replacement card. They said that TSO Reyaz held up the issuance of the BPL card and sought Rs 20,000 in order to speed things up. The ACB set up a trap and caught Riyaz stealing Rs 18,000 after the man complained about him to them, they claimed. The ACB officer reported that Reyaz was detained immediately and that his home was searched. BUXAR (BIHAR):An official reported that 21 carriages of the North East Express train derailed close to Raghunathpur station in the Buxar district, resulting in at least four fatalities and about 50 injuries. LeT terrorist held in Baramulla, arms and ammunition recovered

BARAMULLA: Police reported on Wednesday that security forces have captured a terrorist connected to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) organisation in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla area. "Police along with security forces arrested a terrorist associate linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT/TRF and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from his possession in Baramulla," according to a police spokesperson. According to the spokesperson, the arrest was conducted at the checkpoint Ushkara in Baramulla, which security personnel set up on Tuesday after receiving information about potential terrorist activity nearby. "A suspicious movement of one individual approaching the naka point on foot was seen during naka checking. The culprit attempted to flee the scene when he saw police officers and security personnel, but he was cleverly captured by the alert naka party, the man stated.A inhabitant of Ushkara named Mudasir Ahmad Bhat was the person in question.
