3 chargesheeted for duping farmers in Jammu

JAMMU:  According to an official, the Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police filed a charge sheet here on Saturday against three individuals, including a bank employee, for allegedly defrauding farmers after offering them a significant sum for their produce. According to a crime branch spokesperson, a 604-page charge sheet was filed against two brothers from R S Pura, Sonu and Shashi Gupta (who works for a bank), as well as their neighbour Gourav Gupta, at a local court. He stated that Tirath Singh of Gadi Garh filed a complaint in 2019 alleging that several farmers had been defrauded of their harvest and hard-earned money, which prompted the filing of the case against the accused.Singh claimed that the three men, each managing a separate company, had taken the lion's share of wheat and paddy from nearby farmers, promising them a fat profit, but they never even covered the real expenses, the spokesperson added, embezzling millions of rupees. The official stated that the case was first filed at the R S Pura Police Station and then moved to the Jammu crime branch for a thorough investigation. It was discovered during the investigation that the accused were operating three businesses while Shashi was employed by the J&K Bank and had been collecting farmers' produce. According to the spokesperson, they eventually defrauded the farmers after accepting cash deposits under the false pretence of offering high interest. DM Jammu cancels 3 illegal land mutations, orders inquiry

JAMMU: Three land mutations that were fraudulently attested have been revoked by District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya, in violation of Government Order No. 254-C of 1965. The DM issued the order after taking notice of the situation and asking the Tehsildar for an update. The land mutations were related to Khasra Nos. 118, 210, and 210-Min in the village of Dhami, Tehsil Nagrota, where three individuals were granted ownership rights under Government Order No. 254-C of 1965. This order was intended to aid in the rehabilitation of families who had been displaced in 1947, 1965, and 1971. Looking through the revenue records, I discovered that the land in question did not fall within the aforementioned order's provisions because it was classified as State Land with 'Gair Mumkin Passi' soil type, meaning it was not used for agriculture. Furthermore, the territory covered by Khasra No. 210-Min belonged to the Forest Department. The DM duly called the parties who were granted ownership rights to a hearing, but they did not show up. Upon conducting a thorough analysis of the revenue records and reviewing the Tehsildar's report, the DM determined that the contested mutations were fraudulent and unlawful, and as such, were revoked. Within two days, Tehsildar Nagrota was instructed to make the necessary record corrections and turn in a report detailing the actions taken. In order to take the appropriate additional steps, he must also divulge the identities of the delinquent officials who illegally entered the contested mutations. JAMMU: According to police, a guy was charged under the draconian Public Safety Act for allegedly engaging in illegal activities that threatened law and order in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to a police spokeswoman, Mohammad Azam, a resident of Pukharni in the Nowshera subdivision, was taken into custody by police and was promptly put in the Rajouri district jail. He claimed that the Rajouri DM had ordered Azam's detention after receiving a thorough report from the district police office. The spokesman stated that between 2013 and 2021, the accused was the subject of several criminal cases filed at the Nowshera police station. He further stated that even after being included in several First Information Reports, the accused continued to engage in "unlawful acts" and to be a threat to peace and order. NIA Raids 15 Locations Across J&K In Terror Funding Case

Srinagar, Feb 10: In an ongoing effort to dismantle Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), an organisation classified as an unlawful association under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act due to funding of terrorism, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at fifteen different locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. An official release stated that NIA teams raided the homes of multiple suspects at five different sites in Srinagar, three in Budgam, two in Kulgam, one in Anantnag, and four in Jammu. "During the extensive searches, incriminating documents and digital devices related to the activities of JeI and its related Trusts in J&K were seized, and over 20 lakh rupees in cash were recovered," the statement continued.Even after the group was outlawed under the UA(P) Act in February 2019, JeI and its members have persisted in promoting terrorist and separatist actions in J&K, according to NIA investigations into the case, which was filed on February 5, 2021. "The prohibited organization's operators had been gathering money through donations from both domestic and international sources," the NIA stated. The money was allegedly raised to support charitable endeavours and other welfare initiatives including health and education, but it was actually utilised to carry out violent and separatist operations, according to NIA investigations. The money was primarily gathered through Zakat, Mowda, and Bait-ul-Mal.Furthermore, it was discovered that well-organized networks of JeI cadres were transferring the money the organisation raised to other terrorist groups that were outlawed, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM). Additionally, JeI was recruiting new members (Rukuns) in J&K and inspiring naïve youth to further its nefarious and separatist actions. Four accused parties were charged earlier in the case by NIA; the investigation is still ongoing.
