Uttarakhand, Aug 4 :On Friday, authorities announced that twelve persons were missing when three stores near Gaurikund on the Kedarnath yatra road were destroyed by a waterfall flash flood.According to them, torrential rainfall on Thursday night led to the flash flood.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel initiated relief and rescue operations, but Circle Officer Vimal Rawat confirmed from the scene that none of the missing people have yet been recovered.
They claimed that sporadic rock falls from the mountains and heavy rains are impeding relief and rescue efforts.He stated that information about the missing individuals, including some from Nepal, is being gathered.
Amar Bohra, his wife Anita Bohra, their daughters Radhika Bohra and Pinki Bohra, and their sons Prithvi Bohra (7), Jatil (6), and Vakil (3) have been named as the missing along with Vinod (26), Mulayam (25), Ashu (23), Priyanshu Chamola (18), Ranbir Singh (28), and Amar Bohra.
