Srinagar Police Attaches ₹4 Crore Property Of Alleged Drug Peddler In Budgam Under NDPS Act

SRINAGAR, Aug 10: In a major action against the illicit drug trade, Srinagar Police has attached an immovable property worth approximately ₹4 crore in Budgam district, allegedly belonging to a notorious drug peddler, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The action was carried out by Police Station Khanyar in connection with FIR No. 04/2026, registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act, against Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hussain Dar, resident of Ichgam, Budgam.

According to police, the attached property consists of a two-storeyed residential house with an attic structure, along with 5 Kanals and 17 Marlas of land. The property, bearing Khasra Nos. 415/416, is located at Ichgam in Budgam district and has an estimated market value of around ₹4 crore.

The property has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, following its identification as an allegedly illegally acquired asset linked to proceeds generated through narcotic drug trafficking.

Police said the latest action forms part of its broader strategy to strike at the financial backbone of drug trafficking networks. Besides taking action against individuals involved in the illegal trade, authorities are increasingly focusing on tracing and attaching properties and other assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of narcotics.

The move is aimed at depriving drug traffickers of the financial resources and assets that allegedly sustain their illegal activities and networks.

Srinagar Police maintained that its campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse will continue with stringent enforcement measures against drug peddlers, their associates and properties allegedly acquired through illicit proceeds.

Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening the fight against narcotics and contributing towards the broader objective of making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
