NEW DELHI: General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff, stated on Thursday that security along the northern border is stable yet delicate. The Army Chief was speaking on January 11 during the Annual Press Conference in advance of Army Day. “The northern border situation is stable yet delicate. We keep on talking in an effort to resolve problems and strike a balance between the two sides. There is a high level of operational readiness, and deployment is balanced and strong.” Manoj Pande, Chief of Army Staff, stated. “The ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control is still in effect with regard to the circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir.We have a powerful anti-drone mechanism in place to stop the use of drones to smuggle weapons and drugs, even though we have been able to thwart infiltration efforts. Terrorist activity has escalated in the Rajouri Poonch area. “Across the border, support infrastructure for proxy tandems in the Rajouri Poonch sector continues,” said General Manoj Pande. Additionally, General Manoj Pande emphasised that disruptive technologies have emerged as the new front in strategic rivalry. “National interests continue to take precedence, and it has been demonstrated that using force is still relevant… According to General Manoj Pande, disruptive technologies have emerged as the new front in strategic competition.Additionally, he reaffirmed that all security forces are working together to guarantee a stable and secure environment for the country. Our country is steadily moving forward in terms of its economic development. The chief of Army Staff stated, “The Northeast has witnessed positive developments in the last year because of the proactive policies of the government,” in reference to the security situation in North-East India. Overall, the violent parameters have decreased. Violence broke out in Manipur in May of last year, but the state government, the Army, and the Assam Rifles worked together to bring the situation under control.Our goal is to restore stability and normalcy in the situation.” Additionally, according to General Manoj Pande, the Army has improved its vehicles, drones, and counter-drone technologies. “We have been able to introduce certain new technologies and address warfare sectors as part of emergency preparations. Better cars, drones, and counter-drone systems have been introduced. We have electronic warfare devices tailored to the terrain,” said General Manoj Pande. “We have reorganised the artillery division. Additionally, our electronic warfare and electronic intelligence units have been reorganised. Drones are starting to replace the animals in our animal transport units as we begin the process of lowering their number.We have formulated a strategy to maximise our capabilities by substantial figures, and by 2027, we hope to attain a 1 lakh figure optimisation.The government has received the proposal from us,” he continued. When asked about the recruitment of Agniveers, General Manoj “The first two batches of Agniveers are now fully deployed in field units and the feedback is very exciting and positive… 120 women officers who have been given permanent commission and are in command roles are deployed in field areas, and they are doing a good job there.” “…We also have moved from the current conduct of our competitive and promotion exams to fully online mode and by the end of this year, all our promotion exams will be held entirely online…” concluded CoAS General Manoj Pande.
