GANDERBAL : NC leader Omar Abdullah on Tuesday hoped that the SC will expedite the hearings in the petitions challenging the Centre’s decision to revoke Art 370 and reorganise the erstwhile state into two UT’s.On July 11, a five-judge Constitution bench led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud will hear several appeals of the government’s decision to repeal the provisions of Article 370 that granted the former state of Jammu and Kashmir special status, nearly four years after the decision was made.”We have long awaited this day, so it’s better late than never. The hearings will begin on July 11 and we expect that they would be accelerated once the Supreme Court has heard this matter and has issued a decision, he told reporters here, 25 km from Srinagar. The former chief minister claimed that his party has given up on expecting the BJP-led NDA government to return Jammu and Kashmir to its pre-August 2019 status. “We have said from the beginning that there is no way, under the circumstances of today, for us to recover anything that was taken from us on August 5, 2019.”Although our conflict is long-lasting, we fight it quietly and in accordance with the law. We want to recover everything that has been taken from us, he continued.
