JAMMU, Sept 18: Police said on Monday that four people, including a sarpanch, had been detained in connection with the murder of a young man here last week. On September 14, a gun and other sharp-edged weapons were used by unidentified intruders to assassinate Sunny Saansiya inside his home in the Bishnah neighbourhood. An officer reported that police had found a motorbike used in the crime in a canal along with two sharp edged knives, a revolver and other items. The suspects have been named as Sarpanch Yuvraj Singh, Dushant Kumar, and Nasir Khan, along with Sukhdev Singh alias “Makhan,” according to the police. As the investigation into the case moves further, more arrests are probably to come.Police said that Saansiya was a well-known drug dealer who had twice been jailed under the Public Safety Act (PSA). He was named as a defendant in more than a dozen NDPS Act cases that were brought by various police stations. (Agencies)
