Farooq Abdullah Rules Out Any Delay In Talks With INDIA Bloc Over Seat Sharing In J&K

JAMMU, Jan 19: Farooq Abdullah, the head of the National Conference, said on Friday that discussions over seat sharing in Jammu and Kashmir have already started and ruled out any delay in reaching a decision with the INDIA group. Abdullah's remarks follow his recent warning that the INDIA bloc may be in danger if a deal on seat sharing is not reached quickly. He claimed that some members would attempt to establish their own group. The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir had stated, "If seat-sharing arrangement is not finalised then there is a threat to the alliance," during an online conversation with former Union minister Kapil Sibal. It ought to be completed within a set time frame. I think the biggest risk is that some would band together to form a different coalition. There's still time. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Abdullah stated that while everyone's interests must be taken into consideration, his party has no issues with the INDIA coalition on the matter of seat distribution in Jammu and Kashmir. "I don't believe there is a seat-sharing delay. They have already begun discussing it. It requires time. Each person has unique interests, and those need to be considered. The former chief minister of Jamaica told reporters here, "I'm sure everything will work out."He went on to say that his party will not have any complications now, just as it has never had any in the past, in resolving such matters with the Congress. In response to inquiries over his party's relinquishment of some seats inside the coalition, the president of NC asked, "Why? Depending on when we speak with them about this matter, this will change. We've never had any trouble working with them to resolve that. These matters will be resolved between us. Reiterating that there was "no problem at all on seat sharing," Farooq Abdullah continued, "We have no problem." You were told the other day by Omar. The NC chairman was alluding to a comment made on Wednesday regarding seat distribution by Omar Abdullah, the vice president of his party.Talk of internal disputes inside the INDIA alliance was rejected by Omar Abdullah. "Seat sharing has not been discussed with Congress at this time. He had stated, "Our goal should be to win all six seats, and they should stay in the INDIA alliance. Farooq Abdullah responded, "Pakistan is not happy with Balochistan people receiving protection on the Iran border," to a query regarding the tensions at the Iran-Pakistan border amid protection for the former. Pakistan believes it to be a threat to them. It is being resolved in other nations. [caption id="attachment_9264" align="alignnone" width="300"] Farooq Abdullah Rules Out…

PM Modi Drinking Only Coconut Water, Feeding Cows In Run Up To Ram Temple Ceremony

New Delhi, Jan 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been sleeping on a blanket on the floor and consuming only coconut water for the past eleven days as part of his unique religious practise in the lead-up to the Ram temple's "Pran Pratishtha," according to sources on Friday. They further mentioned that Modi has been performing "gau-pooja," feeding cows, and participating in other "daan" (charity) activities including "annadaan" and distributing clothing in line with the scriptures. As a devoted "Ram Bhakt," Modi has spent the past few days travelling to various temples across the nation, including the Guruvayur Temple and Thriprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple in Kerala, Veerbhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, and Ramkund and Shree Kalaram Temple in Nasik.In a similar vein, he will spend the next two days touring more of these temples in Tamil Nadu. They pointed out that these temples have a connection to Lord Ram in addition to serving as a unifying force for the various regions of the nation. They stated that his recent visits to temples around the nation, when he heard the Ramayana read aloud in a variety of languages and took part in bhajans, are noteworthy because their influence extends well beyond the conventional definition of religion. They further stated that his efforts are directed towards bolstering the socio-cultural fabric of "bharatiya" in accordance with his concept of "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat."In an attempt to set an example and ignite a widespread movement, he also started the drive to clean up temples and cleaned the grounds of the Shree Kalaram Temple in Nasik. The duty of cleaning the temples was willingly undertaken by lakhs of individuals. People from all walks of life in the nation have enthusiastically joined the campaign. Everyone has reacted to Modi's clarion appeal, from superstars to the average person, as evidenced by the #SwachhTeerthCampaign trending among the top topics on X, an official said. PM Modi did nothing for 9 yrs to find out solution for Naga political issue: Rahul

KOHIMA: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, saying that for nine years following the signing of the Framework Agreement in 2015, he did nothing to resolve the Naga political issue. Speaking at a public gathering on his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the town of Mokokchung, Nagaland, Gandhi stated that a solution to the issue cannot be brought about without the Naga people's trust and without having a conversation with them. "If you don't have a solution, you should not lie and say you have a solution," he stated, criticising the prime minister. You can tell the Naga people that we must and will strive towards a solution, but you must not tell them falsehoods." He claimed that the Congress is aware of how serious the problem is and how urgent a solution is. "What the Prime Minister promised nine years ago is an empty vow to the Naga people," the former president of the Congress stated, making reference to the Framework Agreement. On Tuesday, Gandhi declared at a press conference held at Chiephobozou that his party is dedicated to finding a resolution to the long-standing Naga Political Issue. In 1947, the Naga insurgency started. The Centre has been in separate talks with the NSCN-IM since 1997 and the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Group (NNPG), which is made up of at least seven groups, since 2017 in an effort to find a solution to the long-standing issue. The Modi administration signed an Agreed Position with NNPGs in 2017 and a Framework Agreement with NSCN-IM in 2015. The NSCN-IM remains steadfast in its demand for a distinct flag and constitution for the Naga people, therefore a definitive solution is still pending. Following a nearly 180-kilometer road trip from Khuzama hamlet in the Kohima district to Mokokchung, Gandhi said that he noticed uneven road conditions and inconsistent electricity supply."How can young Nagas compete with the rest of the country's youth who have better facilities?" he said. It is an act of treason towards the Nagaland people. With these roads, how can we hope to provide the people of Nagaland a bright future?" The Congress politician claimed that the BJP and RSS were targeting India's diverse cultures and religions, waging an ideological war against them. "As Indians, everyone should respect each other's tradition, culture, food habits and religious practices, but the RSS and BJP are attacking them and disrespecting them," he said. Gandhi also criticised the Prime Minister for failing to travel to Manipur in spite of the state's months-long ethnic unrest. "As an Indian, I am ashamed that the Prime Minister has not been to Manipur yet after what happened there," he stated. Weeks after the violence started in the state, in June of last year, Gandhi travelled to Manipur for two days and spent time with the displaced people who were staying in relief camps spread across multiple districts. According to him, the purpose of the Yatra is to draw national attention to the people living in Manipur, Nagaland, and other northeastern states. Rahul Gandhi is the soldier that Nagas have in New Delhi from now on, said the Congress leader. He continued, "If you need me to raise any issue in Parliament I will be happy to do it." In addition, he urged youth—particularly women—to pursue political careers and offer Nagaland a fresh outlook on the future. Gandhi will spend the night in Tuli and set out for Assam early on Thursday to continue his Yatra. [caption id="attachment_9204" align="alignnone" width="300"] PM Modi did nothing for 9…

MHA Cancels FCRA Registration Of Centre For Policy Research Charging Violation Of Certain Norms

NEW DELHI, Jan 17: The Centre for Policy Research (CPR), a preeminent institute for public policy research in New Delhi, has had its registration under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) revoked by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) due to purported violations of specific foreign financing guidelines. Yamini Aiyar, President of CPR, stated, "The FCRA has been cancelled via order received on January 10
and the institution will weigh its options to seek justice." One of the reasons for the termination, according to the MHA, was reports on "current affairs programmes" that were released by CPR. The FCRA registration of CPR was suspended for 180 days, and then the suspension was extended for an additional 180 days. The MHA took action about a year later. In February of last year, the MHA suspended CPR's FCRA licence. Since its founding in 1973, the CPR has been a preeminent policy think tank, focusing on the problems facing India in the twenty-first century while doing sophisticated and in-depth research on a broad range of policy-relevant topics. The Income Tax administration carried out a "survey" operation against CPR and two other charities earlier in September 2022 as part of an investigation into their foreign funding. The organisations were Oxfam India and the Independent and Public-Spirited Media Foundation (IPSMF), situated in Bengaluru. Due to MHA's refusal to renew its FCRA licence in December 2021, Oxfam India's foreign funding is likewise barred in India. In parallel, Oxfam India is being looked at by the Central Bureau of Investigation. Subsequently, the CPR challenged the suspension of its licence in the Delhi High Court.The MHA then argued that CPR should no longer receive foreign funds because of worries that the organisation would receive donations from outside for unfavourable uses that may harm the nation's economic interests. The MHA had further charged that the CPR had violated the FCRA by moving foreign contributions to other organisations and depositing them in non-designated accounts.
