JAMMU, Sept 26: The Jammu & Kashmir Government has made a significant decision by removing a councillor from the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for abusing her official authority. Jyoti Devi, a councillor for the Jammu Municipal Corporation, has been asked to resign after being busted receiving a bribe of Rs 1000 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) investigators. "Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 34(I)(b) of The Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000, the government hereby removes Smt. Jyoti Yadav, councillor, ward No. 53, from her office on the grounds of abuse of her official powers, with immediate effect," according to an order made by the H&UDD. Poonch/Jammu, Sep 26: According to preliminary investigations, a Special Police Officer (SPO) who was found dead in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday likely died as a result of injuries sustained in a a road accident. SPO Khaliq Hussain's body was found in a field near the village of Kankote, some 10 feet below the main road, along with his motorbike, according to Station House Officer of Police Station, Poonch, Deepak Pathania. Hussain, who was assigned to the Poonch district police lines, had sustained brain injuries, according to him, and initial evidence points to a fatal car accident as the cause of his death. The official stated that the deceased's body was transferred to Poonch District Hospital for a postmortem and that police have begun an inquest. Early in the morning, the Jammu and Kashmir Police's counter-insurgency division conducted a search of Mohd Iqbal's home in the Peer Bagh neighbourhood of Sunjwan and seized a mobile and two SIM cards for analysis, according to police. RAJOURI:The vigilant police in Rajouri confiscated an oil tanker and freed 16 livestock from the hands of smugglers after exposing their method of illegally transporting cattle to the Kashmir valley via Mughal Road. According to official sources, a police team led by SHO Rajouri Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani laid a naka on the outskirts of the town on the orders of SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh, and during checking they intercepted a Bharat Petroleum Oil Tanker bearing registration No. HR38S - 5582 that was travelling from the Jammu side.The police squad became suspicious while checking. They began a thorough inspection of the oil ship and eventually discovered 16 cattle loaded cruelly and ruthlessly inside the tanker without having received valid DM licence. All 16 animals were saved, and the vehicle was captured. Tanker driver Shoket Ali, a Reasi resident and the son of Shah Mohd, was detained by the police. In this regard, a FIR was filed under the appropriate sections at Police Station Rajouri. The SSP instructed the police teams to increase the district-wide inspection of all sorts of cars. SRINAGAR: On Monday, a special court in this city denied the bail requests of ten second-rung separatist leaders who had been detained on suspicion of attempting to resurrect the outlawed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). Further Sessions Judge Srinagar Sandeep Gandotra, a special judge appointed under the NIA Act, rejected the separatists' arguments, stating that granting them bail at this point would jeopardise the interests of the general public and the state. The embargo outlined in section 43(D) proviso 5 is invoked in the current case, and the court noted that the accused parties/applicants do not merit the freedom of release at this time. "Furthermore, public interests/interests of the state/UT shall be at risk if the accused persons/applicants be expanded on bail at this point. Accordingly, the applications are denied, and they will be added to the records once the required procedures have been followed, the court stated. The bail application hearing had been grouped by the court. The judge further stated that the denial of the bail requests should not be interpreted as a judgement on the merits of the main case.Firdous Ahmad Shah, Jahangir Ahmad Bhat, Saheel @ Suhail Ahmad Mir, Khursheed Ahmad Bhat, Syed Rehman Shams, Sajad Hussain Gul, Mohammad Rafiq Phaloo, Gh. The Chief Secretary acknowledged Team J&K's efforts at the outset of the evaluation for reaching the milestone of earning the top rank among States and UTs in terms of the number of e-services made available to citizens. At the same time, he made it clear that the success should inspire everyone to find other areas and services that should be offered in an electronic format in order to further improve the ease of the general population. He emphasised that e-services have improved departmental efficiency and are a very effective tool for achieving the "BhrashtacharMukt J&K" administration goal.The general public is also appreciating e-initiatives for their transparent, hassle-free character. He asked the department to keep working to increase the number of e-services available, advocating the addition of new services and setting a goal of achieving 1500 e-services. KUPWARA: A family who had become lost in the dense Bangus Valley forest was saved by Dial 112 services, and the J&K Police and Army team then moved the family to a safer location. Another instance of being a hero came when Dial-112 received a distress call on September 24, 2002, reporting that Atiq-ul-Rahman and his family, which included five women and five young children (a total of 11 people), had travelled to Bangus Valley in Kupwara for a picnic."They decided to take the Upper Rajwar Wader Bala route to Handwara on their way back to their starting point. Unfortunately, they were lost in thick trees and their vehicle became trapped, rendering it immobile. When they were in trouble, they dialled 112 for immediate assistance. As a result, Dial-112 immediately alerted the pertinent police units stationed in the neighbourhood for the urgent assistance.The official continued, "On receiving this information, Incharge Police Post Zachaldara immediately acted along with a police party and Army (21RR) and launched the rescue effort. After arduous efforts, the unified team arrived at the location and located the stranded family, saving the lives of 11 people. The stranded family was then moved to Police Post Zachaldara by the joint team for a night's stay, where they were also given refreshments. Additionally, a JCB that the police organised tow their stranded car away from the scene, and then they were taken up to the main road where they continued on their way home.According to the spokesman, the trapped family thanked the police for their rapid assistance and appreciated Dial 112. JAMMU, Sept 25: On his visit to the Jambu Zoo in Nagrota, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta evaluated the amenities offered to guests as well as the overall operation of the zoological park, which was opened to the public last year.
