ACB Arrests Patwari While Accepting Bribe In Budgam

SRINAGAR, Oct 5: Ashiq Hussain, Patwari, Halqa Sharifabad, District Budgam, is caught by the ACB while collecting a bribe of $100,000 for entering information in revenue records. The Anti-Corruption Bureau received a written complaint alleging that Ashiq Hussain, Patwari, Halqa Sharifabad, Budgam, is seeking a bribe of $100,000 for the online entry of the complainant's land into the Revenue records, or Jamabandi. In order to pursue legal action against the accused public official in accordance with the pertinent legal rules, the complainant submitted a written complaint to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.After receiving the complaint, police station ACB Srinagar registered Case FIR No. 21/2023 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 and began an inquiry. A trap team was formed during the investigation. The team's trap was successful, and the accused public worker Ashiq Hussain, Patwari, Halqa Sharifabad, Budgam was apprehended while soliciting and collecting a bribe from the complainant in the amount of $100,000. After finishing all the paperwork, he was immediately taken into custody. The matter is currently the subject of more investigation. Over 2.5 lac appointments made through backdoor by past regimes: CS

KUPWARA: In the Union Territory of J&K, over 2.50 lac employment were handed to undeserving individuals through backdoor ways, according to Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta on Thursday. Speaking at a ceremony in Kupwara, north Kashmir, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta remarked, "I feel humiliated to say that over 2.50 lac undeserving persons had been offered government employment in J&K through illegal and backdoor tactics. He claimed that the current administration, which is being led by the lieutenant governor, is steadfast in its commitment to halt backdoor appointments and to give educated youth ways of earning a respectable living."Backdoor methods will not be used to provide employment. Poor children who were previously denied basic rights and employment would now have them, according to Mehta.He continued, "But I want to bring facts to the fore that 30,000 employment were offered to J&K youth in the previous three years. Some groups are circulating lies about the administration claiming it has ceased recruitment operations. He further stated that the days when government posts were awarded through nepotism and corruption and when the rights of the underprivileged were stolen were long behind. "Those who deserve government work will be accorded their rightful rights, while those who don't deserve should choose alternative sources of support. Going into business is preferable to working a daily wage job, Mehta concluded. Director Health Kashmir : Over Rs 1.5 lakh fine realised for tobacco use at public places in 2023

SRINAGAR: Director of Health Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, stated on Thursday that the health department in Kashmir has collected fines of more than 1.5 lac rupees from offenders in 2023 in an effort to curtail the issue of tobacco use in public areas. Speaking to media representatives on the sidelines of a one-day media sensitization workshop for the national tobacco control programme, he emphasised the critical need for public support in achieving this goal and stated that the push for a tobacco-free environment is not only a matter of law but also a public health imperative.Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather emphasised the value of public support in the struggle against cigarette usage. He emphasised that without the active participation of the public, no programme or effort to address any issue can genuinely be successful. Positively, a sizable share of the fines gathered is evidence of residents' desire to follow tobacco control laws. Dr. Rather also emphasised that smoking is a problem in homes as much as in public settings. Children and elderly family members may suffer negative impacts from smoking in residential areas.According to a recent survey done in conjunction with the Social Welfare Department, 50,000 out of 70,000 people were discovered to be intravenous drug users. He quoted this data. Alarming findings showed that many of these drug users, including minors, had a history of smoking. Dr. Rather emphasised the connection between substance misuse and smoking, calling for a holistic strategy to address both problems. He said that additional treatment facilities (ATF) centres had been constructed in each district of the valley to address the growing concern about substance misuse, particularly among young people. According to him, these facilities work to give those in need the help and intervention they require, utilising a wholistic strategy to combat addiction and advance better lifestyles. The woman, a mediator, and the official who issued the domicile certificate make up the trio. 2 HM militant killed in Kulgam encounter

Srinagar, Oct 4: A shootout with security personnel resulted in the deaths of two Hizbul Mujahideen militants today in the Kulgam area.The confrontation began earlier in the day when security personnel conducted a search and cordon operation at Kujjar after receiving information that militants were present there. Basit Amin Bhat of Frisal and Saqib Ahmad Lone of Hawoora, Kulgam were the militants slain in the encounter, according to Additional Director General of Police for Kashmir, Vijay Kumar.According to a police spokesman, the Kulgam Police, Army (1RR), and CRPF together conducted a cordon and search operation in the region after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the Kujjar area of Kulgam. He claimed that throughout the search, as the combined search group neared the likely location, the militants sheltering there opened fire on them randomly. This was efficiently reacted against, resulting in an encounter. Two HM militants were killed, according to the spokesman, and their bodies were found at the scene of the encounter."According to police data, both of the terrorists who were slain were associated with a number of terrorism-related crimes. Terrorist Basit was involved in cases FIR 93/2016 under 147, 148, 149, 336, 332 RPC, Case FIR 95/2016 under 147, 148, 149, 336, 332 RPC, Case FIR 35/2021 under 18, 20, 38 UA(P) Act, and Case FIR No 55/2021 under Section 302 IPC, 7/27 A. Act 13, 16, 18, 38, and 39 UA(P) of Police Station Yaripora. According to Sections 13, 20, and 38 UA (P) of the Police Station Qaimoh Act, terrorist Saqib Lone was involved in Case FIR No. 41/2021, the official stated. He said that the scene of the encounter yielded incriminating objects, weapons, and ammo, including two AK series rifles.The cordon and search effort will continue in the region, the official added. "In this regard, a case has been registered in accordance with pertinent legal provisions, and additional investigation is ongoing," he continued. Kumar praised the combined police and security team for carrying out the operation successfully and without causing any collateral damage. He also dubbed it a huge success. Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen shot and wounded a student this evening in the Watrigama Wanihama neighbourhood of the Anantnag district.A policeman said that a student at Wanihama named Sahil Bashir was shot by alleged extremists. He was transferred right away to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The entire area was blocked off shortly after the incident in order to find the perpetrators. Crime Branch Jammu chargesheets mother-daughter duo in fraud case

JAMMU: A mother-daughter team has been charged by the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch in Jammu for participating in a criminal conspiracy to defraud one person of Rs 12 lakh by promising to send his daughter to Canada for further study. A 149-page charge sheet against Balwant Kour and her daughter Simran Mann, residents of Sector 44 in Chandigarh, has been presented to the court for judicial determination, according to a Crime Branch spokesperson. They were booked in case FIR number 34/2023 under Section 420 and 120-B of the IPC by Police Station Crime Branch Jammu.According to him, the complaint was made in writing by Raj Kumar Nischal, the son of Kedar Nath Nischal, of Chowk Chabutra Lane, opposite Gurudwara Baba Chanda Singh, Pacca Danga, Jammu. It was claimed that Aditi Nischal, the complainant's daughter, met the accused Simran Mann while Simran Mann was an IELTS teacher at the institute where the complainant's daughter would work as a graphic designer. Simran Mann stated there that in exchange for Rs 12 lakh, he will send Aditi Nishcal to Canada for further education. The Crime Branch spokeswoman stated, "After transferring the funds to the accused person via RTGS, the latter began dodging Aditi Nischal on various pretexts and later defrauded her of her father's hard-earned money." He claimed that after receiving the complaint from Aditi Nischal's father, preliminary verification was started. The claims were found to be prima facie true, and a case was then filed for a thorough investigation. The spokesperson continued, adding that throughout the inquiry, the pertinent records were seized, the statements of the witnesses were recorded, and material evidence was acquired to support the mother-daughter team's involvement in the crime. While accused Balwant Kour, who was detained by Crime Branch Jammu, is out on bail, her daughter is still at large. LG chairs District Review Meeting at Shopian

SHOPIAN : Today at Shopian, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over the District Review Meeting and reviewed the district's ongoing development projects as well as the implementation of numerous UT and Central Government Schemes. Our goal is to use the potential of each district to boost J&K's economy. To ensure that every home receives the benefits of the development, every official at all levels of administration must fulfil his duties with greater dedication and sensitivity, the Lt. Governor added. He instructed the officials to conduct routine surveys to find new applicants for the programmes sponsored by the federal government and the local governments as well as youngsters with any form of birth abnormality. The Lt. Governor gave instructions to connect every farmer in the district with agricultural-related initiatives and programmes and to increase their registration on the Daksh portal after reviewing the progress made in the agriculture and allied sectors. The District Administration and other officials were persuaded by the Lt. Governor to encourage the establishment of cold storage and other industrial units at the local level. For the District's employment and export plans to be implemented successfully, a solid strategy must be developed. He advised using Block Diwas as a springboard to increase young self-employment and options for generating income. The district's tourism potential should be exploited in all possible ways, and Amrit Sarovars should be promoted as tourist attractions, according to him.The Lt Governor also requested a thorough report on the financial aid provided to women, ST, and SC under Stand Up India, and he ordered that district administration and banking institutions hold frequent meetings. The Lt. Governor instructed the officials to take comprehensive steps to provide road connectivity to every village in the district with an emphasis on increasing connectivity in rural regions. He ordered the police and district administration to launch targeted programmes to protect children from the dangers of drug abuse and urged everyone in society to work together in the fight against narcotics. SRINAGAR: Today, Jagadguru Sri Ramanujacharya Saraswathi Bhandaram Digital Library and Sri Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt Branch, Kashmir were officially opened in Shivpora, Srinagar, by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The Lt Governor congratulated Jagadguru Sri Ramanujacharya ji's devotees and the Sri Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt on the occasion in his speech. The Lt Governor reported that Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji had sent his best wishes and promised to personally visit Mutt's Kashmir branch. The Lt. Governor recalled Jagadguru Sri Ramanujacharya's enormous contributions to society. "Sri Ramanujacharya advocated love, peace, compassion, universal brotherhood, and social equality through his vishishtadvaita philosophy. The Lt. Governor added, "He demonstrated to society the way of virtue, righteousness, and devotionalism that encouraged the 'Bhakti Movement'.The Lt Governor also emphasised Kashmir's strong spiritual ties to Sri Ramanujacharya ji.
