Terrorists Ambush Army Vehicles In Poonch , 3 Jawans Injured

Jammu, Dec 21:Terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, injuring at least three jawans, according to officials. Around 3:30 pm, there was an attack on the vehicles on the Rajouri-Thanamandi-Surankote road in the Savni area. They were transporting jawans from a region close to Bufliaz, where since Wednesday night, there has been a cordon and search operation in place in an effort to apprehend terrorists. According to the officials, the terrorists injured at least three jawans when they opened fire on the trucks and Gipsy."Based on hard intelligence a joint operation was launched," a defence PRO stated.last night, communication was made this evening, and an encounter is currently taking place. BUDGAM: Tanveer Ahmad, an Assistant Engineer at the BDO office in Surasyar Chadoora, Budgam district, was captured by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after he was found to have accepted a bribe. After receiving a complaint, the engineer was taken into custody and had a sizable quantity of cash taken from him. An investigation is still underway after a formal complaint was filed in accordance with Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Arvind Kejriwal replies to ED, says summons politically motivated, illegal

NEW DELHI: According to AAP sources on Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal responded to the ED summons, describing them as unlawful and politically motivated. Kejriwal was called in by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday to be questioned about the money laundering case related to the excise policy. ‘Chillai-Kalan’ begins on harsh note in Kashmir, -4.3°C in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The 40-day severe winter period known as "Chillai-Kalan" began on Thursday, true to its name as a low of minus 4.3°C was recorded in Srinagar, according to officials. According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar's minimum temperature today was 2.8°C colder than average for this time of year in the summer capital of J&K. According to the report, the extreme cold caused many water bodies in Srinagar and other districts to freeze and caused water taps to spout. According to Qazigund, the temperature was at least minus 4.0°C, the same as it was the night before. According to the MeT official, the minimum temperature was 2.4°C lower than usual for Kashmir's gateway townPahalgam recorded a low of minus 5.8°C, which was 1.4°C below normal for the well-known south Kashmir resort, compared to minus 6.3°C the night before. According to the official, Kokernag, located in south Kashmir, saw a minimum temperature of minus 3.0°C, down from minus 3.3°C the night before. The temperature was 1.3°C below average for the area. According to the official, Kupwara town in north Kashmir saw a low of minus 4.0°C, down from minus 3.5°C the night before. This was 1.4°C below average. According to the official, Gulmarg saw a low of minus 3.0°C, down from minus 4.4°C the night before. The temperature was also 1.8°C higher than usual for the well-known north Kashmiri skiing resort.He said that Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 7.3°C, which was 1.6°C below normal for the winter capital of J&K and 6.4°C the night before. According to him, Banihal recorded 7.6°C, Batote 6.0°C, and Bhaderwah 2.4°C. Even though 'Chillai-Kalan' will conclude on January 30, winter will still persist. The next two periods are called "Chillai-Khurd," which lasts for 20 days from January 30 to February 19, and "Chillai-Bachha," or "baby cold," which lasts for 10 days from February 20 to March 1. For the next 24 hours, MeT has forecast "generally mainly dry" and chilly weather in J&K. He stated that the weather on December 23 would likely be cloudy overall with a chance of light snowfall in a few isolated higher regions. 356 vehicles challaned, fine imposed in Doda

JAMMU: An extensive operation was started throughout the Doda district, overseen by MVD personnel and led by ARTO Doda, Rajesh Gupta. JAMMU: On Wednesday, RR Swain, the Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, carried out a thorough assessment of the Government Railway Police's (GRP) operations and railway security in the Union Territory. While chairing an officers' meeting at the GRP Headquarters in Jammu, Swain stressed the importance of improving surveillance capabilities by recognising and resolving shortcomings at all levels, especially supervisory. Swain gave officers instructions to look into previous incidents more thoroughly, find out the whereabouts and current status of those involved, and look into the underlying causes. He reminded the officers to be thorough and curious in their investigations, and to look at every angle and possibility. In order to conduct effective searches and acquire intelligence, the DGP emphasised the value of utilising technology, particularly the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). In response to concerns, he stressed the need to tighten security measures at train stations and the areas around them in order to stop the transfer of explosives, weapons, and drugs. Swain called for improved preventive and detective capabilities, emphasising enforcement, investigation, and intelligence gathering, while acknowledging the efforts that have already been made. He advised officers to take a shrewd approach to resource projection and to identify resources for funding. During the meeting, Sunil Kumar, ADGP Railways, gave a thorough presentation that outlined the roles of several forces, including the police, GRP, RPF, CAPFs, and private agencies.Stakeholder roles, the administrative and structural design of GRP, and the security strategy for the 111-kilometer Katra-Banihal Section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line were among the topics discussed. DGP RR Swain also sowed a sapling in the GRP Headquarters' lawns as a sign of environmental awareness. 21 animals burnt alive as cattle shed gutted in fire

UDHAMPUR: At village Surni in tehsil Ramnagar, an unfortunate incident occurred where a cattle shed caught fire and was completely destroyed, burning 21 domestic animals to death. According to reports, Yodhu Ram, the son of Lakhu, a resident of Surni, owned the animal shed where the fire started on the intervening night of December 19–20. The cattle shed was completely destroyed before the owner and the villagers could put out the fire, killing four cows, four oxen, two calves, and fifteen sheep that were buried beneath the rubble. The local villagers have petitioned the government to compensate the impoverished Yodhu Ram, and the police have filed a report and started an investigation into the issue.
