Union minister Gadkari reviews progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway in Punjab

AMRITSAR: When the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway is operational, it will take four hours to get to Amritsar from Delhi and six hours to get to Katra from Delhi, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, who visited the project on Thursday. According to the minister of road transport and highways, this 669-kilometer greenfield motorway connecting Delhi, Amritsar, and Katra is being developed at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore. After it is finished, it takes four hours to go from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours to go from Delhi to Katra, he said. The current distance is 727 kilometres between Delhi to Katra. According to Gadkari, the new route's construction will cut the journey by 58 miles.According to Gadkari, the motorway is 399 km long in Punjab, of which 296 km have already seen construction. Of that length, over 137 km are in Haryana. According to him, there are 135 km of motorway in Jammu and Kashmir, 120 km of which are currently under construction. The motorway would cross industrial districts in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Patiala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, and Ludhiana. According to the minister, one unique aspect of this corridor is the 1,300-meter cable-stayed bridge across the Beas River, which is the longest in Asia.Major religious sites such as the Golden Temple, the well-known Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu, the Sultanpur Lodhi Gurdwara in the Kapurthala district, the Goindwal Sahib Gurdwara, the Khandur Sahib Gurdwara, and the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib (Tarn Taran) will all be connected by the motorway. He stated that improved connection from Tarn Taran to the Amritsar airport will be made possible by the 50-km, four-lane bypass route, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,475 crore. According to the minister, this bypass will be able to reduce traffic in Amritsar and enhance mobility.The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra motorway, according to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was also present on this occasion, will herald a new era of unparalleled growth and wealth in the state. He added that the project will significantly boost regional economic activity and create new job opportunities for young people. Govt hikes wheat MSP by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 2,275 for 2024-25

NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday announced a rise in the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat by Rs 150 to Rs 2,275 per quintal for the 2024–25 marketing season, ahead of assembly elections in important wheat-growing regions. Since taking office in 2014, the administration led by Narendra Modi has increased salaries at the greatest rate. Prime Minister Modi presided over the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) meeting when a decision in this regard was made. The marketing-share price (MSP) for wheat for the 2023–24 marketing season (April–March) is currently Rs 2,125 per quintal.Anurag Thakur, the minister of I&B, briefed the media that the CCEA had recommended raising the minimum support price (MSP) for all mandatory rabi crops for the 2024–25 marketing season. "We have raised the MSP of six rabi crops in accordance with the CACP's suggestion. The MSP for wheat has been raised by Rs 150 per quintal, he declared. He also stated that the support price of wheat has been raised from Rs 2,125 per quintal in 2023–24 to Rs 2,275 per quintal for the 2024–25 marketing season. The primary crop grown during the winter months is wheat, which is sown in October and harvested in April. The minimum support price, or MSP, is guaranteed to safeguard farmers' interests. Below this price, government procurement agencies will not buy grain. Div Com Jammu reviews progress on Delhi Katra Expressway, Ring Road

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar presided over a meeting of interested Deputy Commissioners and NHAI executives today to assess the status of the construction on the Jammu Ring Road Project and the Delhi Amritsar Katra Motorway Project. The meeting was attended by Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner for Jammu; Rakesh Minhas, Deputy Commissioner for Kathua; Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner for Samba; ACR Reasi, Chief Engineer for JPDCL; Project Directors for NHAI; and other relevant personnel. The Jammu Ring Road Project and the Delhi-Amritsar Katra Motorway were also closely investigated by the Div Com. It was notified that all executed packages had work ongoing. The Div Com also looked at the distribution of compensation and the acquisition of land.For the efficient completion of work on prestigious road projects, he gave the pertinent Deputy Commissioners instructions to resolve land difficulties and bottlenecks, if any, on a priority basis. Additionally, he gave them instructions to finish the payment of land acquisition payments in a timely way. The Div Com urged NHAI officers to keep in constant contact with the relevant Deputy Commissioners in order to handle minor remaining concerns, and it was reported that the majority of the land issues had been resolved. In order to meet the expressway's deadline for completion, NHAI officers were urged to speed up construction on the Delhi-Katra section. The Div Com strongly noted the slow development on the package falls in the Reasi district and gave the Project Director the order to hire extra workers and equipment for quick progress.The Divisional Commissioner emphasised the importance of maintaining surfaces where work has been done properly in order to ensure efficient traffic flow on the National Highway. NEW DELHI, Oct 16: According to the Wholesale Price Index, wholesale inflation in India remained zero through September for the sixth consecutive month, according to official statistics released on Monday. Following the statistics ministry's announcement on October 12 that headline retail inflation had dropped to a three-month low of 5.02 percent in September, the WPI data was released on October 13. Every month on the 14th (or the following working day), the government publishes index numbers for wholesale pricing. The index figures are created using information gathered from official sources and particular manufacturing facilities located throughout the nation.In October 2022, wholesale inflation as a whole was 8.39 percent; it has subsequently decreased. Notably, up until September of last year, inflation measured by the wholesale price index (WPI) had reached double digits for 18 straight months. While still above the optimum 4% scenario, retail inflation in India is currently over the RBI's 2–6% comfort range in September. Retail inflation in September was 5.02 percent. With the exception of the most recent pauses, the RBI has increased the repo rate by a total of 250 basis points since May 2022 in an effort to combat inflation. BANDIPORA: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a review meeting with the Bandipora District Administration to assess the state of the district's infrastructure projects, Centrally supported programmes, and UT sector initiatives.
