JAMMU: Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana declared today that January 22, 2024, will be remembered as a significant date in India's history as the start of a period marked by inclusivity and harmony, the foundation of Sanatan Dharma, and a global way of life embodied by Vasudeva Kutumbakam. Devender Rana spoke at the grand opening of the magnificent "Mukhya Dwaar" of the ancient Narshinghji Temple at Gharota in Block Bhalwal. "Let this sacred and historical occasion inspire us all to emulate the ideals of Maryada Purushottam Shree Ram and foster the bonds that bind us as a nation believing in compassion, righteousness, and love for humanity," he said. This generation is fortunate to have witnessed the Tapasya of millions of Sanatanis who endured shame but remained unwavering in their resolve to have the home for Ram Lalla—the embodiment of the ideals of righteousness and virtue—where the Lord was born. The construction of the Ram Temple is a testament to the enduring faith and reverence for the Maryada Purshotam. He went on to say that this is a historic turning point in the rich tapestry of growing Bharat's cultural and spiritual history, one that would illuminate the world and pave the path for the country to become Vishwaguru. According to Devender Rana, the Ram Temple symbolises the nation's love for Shree Ram, who stands for compassion, justice, and an unbroken commitment to the truth. The temple is intended to represent the hopes of all Sanatanis for a society based on these timeless principles. The speaker highlighted that the construction of a wonderful temple by thousands of people, regardless of their faith, caste, or area, is a symbol of inclusive India. Within the ancient and historic temple, Rana prayed for harmony and serenity. Additionally, he participated in Special Pujas for world peace and fraternity among hundreds of other devotees. DM Jammu reviews arrangements for JKSSB exam

JAMMU: Today, at Teachers' Bhawan, District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya called a meeting of relevant officers to discuss the preparations for the OMR-based written exam for the J&K Service Selection Board's Accounts Assistant (Finance) position, which is set to take place in the district on January 28, 2024. Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal, the Regional Transport Officer, the Chief Education Officer of JK Padha, the Member of the JKSSB Atul Kumar, and other relevant parties attended the meeting. The ADM updated the DM on the state of plans at the 87 testing locations set up for 33793 candidates throughout the district. Every center's superintendent, observer, and magistrate have been nominated and briefed on their respective roles and duties.The meeting covered a wide range of topics related to the examination process, including pre- and post-examination procedures, basic facility arrangements, safekeeping of exam materials, effective traffic management, security arrangements, and transportation logistics. The DM emphasised that the District Administration's primary goal is free, fair, and transparent tests. Any laxity in adhering to SOPs for examination conduct will be met with stern consequences. He underlined the value of time and asked all officials and employees to rigorously follow the schedule. In order to make sure no applicant reaches the exam centre without being properly screened, he further emphasised the importance of thoroughly frisking both male and female candidates as well as their possessions.The DM gave the concerned officers instructions to help the candidates and ensure a flawless and easy process. The RTO Jammu was instructed to make sure that the material was lifted and that appropriate transportation arrangements were made to the assigned examination venues during the meeting. In a similar vein, heads of institutions were instructed to make sure that exam sites were properly set up. New Ram Lalla Idol Consecrated At Ayodhya Temple

Ayodhya, Jan 22: In the midst of lavish celebrations in the town on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the rites that dedicated the new Ram Lalla statue at the recently built temple here. The prime minister entered the temple grounds while wearing a red dupatta that had been folded and a silver "chattar," or umbrella. He took "sankalp" for the "pran pratishtha ceremony," wearing a golden kurta with a cream dhoti and patka, and then proceeded to the sanctum sanctorum for the rites. During the ceremonies, the chief minister Yogi Adityanath, governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat were also present inside the sanctorum.When the temple was dedicated, petals from flowers were dropped onto the grounds by army helicopters. Everyone would be moved by the amazing occasion of Shri Ram Lala's life being dedicated in Ayodhya Dham. It gives me enormous joy to be involved in this magnificent programme. Modi exclaimed, "Hail Siya Ram!" on X. After the event, Modi will speak to the crowd. He has a scheduled visitation to the Kuber Tila as well. NEW DELHI, Jan 21: A police research tank under the union home ministry has released a warning and advise against several scams that occur on the widely used social media messaging app WhatsApp and result in money theft and cybercrimes. Seven distinct fraud kinds have been identified by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD). These include deceitful tactics such as fooling people through missed calls, video conversations, investment plans and employment offers purportedly, impersonation, hijacking, and screen sharing.The eight-page advisory-cum-alert described the scam as a "hijacking" attempt in which the con artists gain unauthorised access to the victim's WhatsApp (WA) account and ask their acquaintances for money. Also, a few individuals reported seeing WhatsApp video calls from unidentified numbers. These were essentially naked video conversations used for sextortion, followed by threats against the user. According to the BPRD, "the hackers blackmail the user and demand money in exchange." Under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the BPRD is a think tank focused on police-related issues (MHA).For its part, WhatsApp, which is owned by internet giant Meta, has recently started a number of public messaging campaigns to inform the public about the safety protections the network offers. According to the BPRD, hackers utilise "code scripted bots" to identify active users and then target them for various cyber threats. The hackers say they do this by intercepting missed calls from numbers that start with country codes, primarily those from Vietnam, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Malaysia. Chief financial officers, chief operating officers, chief technical officers, and high-ranking police and government officials are among the top management executives that the con artists target in their impersonation scam. They contact the victim by posing as the CEO or senior officer of their company.In order to persuade the victim to transfer the funds, the fraudsters obtain personal information about the employees they are posing as by browsing their social media handles. They then create similar profiles and request immediate payments to some links citing their attendance at a crucial meeting or an issue with their previous phone number, according to the BPRD. Additionally, images of several WA accounts where similar attempts were attempted were shared in the notice. A particular concern over WhatsApp's recently announced "screen share" feature was conveyed in the letter. According to the BPRD, "many frauds were observed in the past where scammers got victims' screen access fraudulently to commit illicit activities."It was further stated that con artists pose as representatives of banks, financial institutions, governments, and other organisations. After persuading the victim to share their screen, a malicious app or piece of software is "surreptitiously" installed on the device, compromising the victim's private data, including passwords, bank account information, and banking services. The message advised customers to enable "two factor authentication," or 2FA, on their WA account as part of the dos and don'ts. It also advised against returning calls or taking calls from unknown or suspect sources, as well as reporting and banning those numbers.The WhatsApp messaging app's authorities have already been notified of this data breach incident. Official communications are sent to the relevant authorities for the same reason, since a number of government agencies and ministry representatives are already working on it."Unknown communications on WhatsApp should be avoided as a precaution without first confirming their legitimacy. However, no suitable remedy to these issues has yet been identified," the statement stated. NEW DELHI: Despite the position most opposition parties have taken on the Ram Mandir inauguration, former cricketer and AAP MP Harbhajan Singh announced on Saturday that he will attend the 'Pran Pratistha' (consecration) ceremony of Ram Lalla (Lord Ram's idol) on January 22 at Ayodhya. "I will attend the ceremony regardless of who else wants to go or not; Congress, other parties, or even myself, will undoubtedly go. This is where I stand as a personal God-believer. "Anybody who is against me going to the Ram Mandir can do as they please," Harbhajan Singh, also known as "Bhajji," said to a news agency.His comments coincided with opposition parties calling for a boycott of the Ram Mandir inauguration on January 22, claiming that the BJP is politicising the occasion and that they would not support the party's plan to exploit the temple opening as a political tool for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. "It is our good fortune that this temple is being built at this time, so we should all go and get blessings (from Lord Ram)....I am definitely going to the (Ram Mandir inauguration) to seek blessings (from Lord Ram)," the Member of Parliament for AAP stated. Days prior, Harbhajan Singh, the leader of his party and the chief minister of Delhi, had stated that he would not be attending the event on January 22 and that he has not yet received a "formal invitation" for the "Pran Pratistha." Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station renamed

UDHAMPUR: Today, the government changed the name of the Udhampur district's Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station to "Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur Railway Station." In honour of the valiant son of the soil, Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, who lived in Udhampur's Adarsh Colony neighbourhood, Northern Railways renamed the Udhampur Railway Station as Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station on September 17, 2023. In February 2016, while fighting terrorists holed up in the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) facility in the Pulwama district, he gave his life in defence of the country. The people of Udhampur district approved of the Northern Railways' decision to rename the Railway Station in honour of their hometown hero, but they insisted that their district's name remain part of the official name. Chandigarh, Jan 19: According to his family, Agniveer soldier Ajay Singh always intended to enlist in the Army to serve his country. He was murdered on Friday in a landmine explosion in the Rajouri area of Jammu and Kashmir, close to the Line of Control. He was born in the Khanna village of Ramgarh Sardaran in Ludhiana. His parents and six sisters survive him. In the past, Ajay's mother performed menial occupations to support the family, while his father, Charanjit Singh, worked as a daily wage labourer. "My brother wanted to join the force and serve the nation," stated one of his sisters. He served as our main source of assistance. According to Charanjit Singh, his kid was enlisted in 2022 as a "Agniveer.""We had a phone conversation on Wednesday night. He enquired about my well-being. He added that they learned of his passing on Thursday night. "He also spoke with his mother," he said. As we spoke on the phone, he inquired as to whether I had eaten dinner, Ajay Singh's distraught mother said. Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, expressed his sorrow over Ajay Singh's passing on Friday. "Agnaver Ajay Singh, who came from the village Ramgarh Sardaran near Khanna (Ludhiana), attained martyrdom in a landmine blast," the notification read.Mann stated that the brave jawan gave his life while gallantly carrying out his job and that the Punjab government is in his family's arms during this terrible time. Ant-militancy operations to remain top priority: ADGP

POONCH: Anand Jain, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Jammu Zone, stated on Friday that police and security personnel will continue to give top priority to counterterrorism operations in the area. Aadhaar will not be considered as valid proof of date of birth: EPFO

NEW DELHI: The retirement fund regulator EPFO has declared that Aadhaar will no longer be accepted as verification of birthdate. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) stated in an official circular on January 16 that the elimination of Aadhaar was decided upon in accordance with a mandate from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The circular states that Aadhaar is also being taken from the list of documents where the date of birth can be corrected. In a December 22, 2023, circular from the UIDAI, it was stated that while an Aadhaar number can be used to verify an individual's identification, it is not a means of proving one's date of birth in and of itself. According to UIDAI, numerous high courts have made it clear in recent rulings that Aadhaar is insufficient as evidence of date of birth. A birth certificate from the Registrar of Births and Deaths, a marksheet from an accredited university or government board, and a PAN (Permanent Account Number) card are among the many papers that can be used as legal evidence of birthdate.
