Div Com reviewed land related matters of Industries Department

JAMMU: Today, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar went over the Industries & Commerce Department's land-related difficulties and the creation of Industrial Estates in the Districts. The Div Com examined in depth the impediments faced by the stakeholder Departments and the land acquisition for industrial estates in the districts of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, and Udhampur. Inderjeet Singh, MD of SIDCO/SICOP, Shivanant Tayal, MD of JPDCL, Chief Conservator of Forest, B Mohan Dass, Regional Director Pollution Control Board, Sat Paul, Chief Engineers of JPDCL, Assistant Commissioner Central, Angrej Singh, Director Industries, Deputy Commissioners of Kathua, Samba, Jammu and Udhampur, as well as other concerned officers, all attended the meeting in person.In addition to the progress made in settling the land-related concerns of the Industries Department that were still pending in the districts, flimsy discussions were conducted regarding the expansion of current estates and the establishment of new estates. The involved Deputy Commissioner informed the Div Com of each case's current status. It was advised that the most of the problems had been fixed and that those still outstanding will be soon. The Div Com gave the DCs instructions to work with the Industries Department to resolve the outstanding land concerns. SRINAGAR: The Jammu Ropeway Project's Peerkho Station's installation of a vertical lift to the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex received administrative sanction from the Administrative Council (AC), which convened here under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha. The anticipated cost to construct the project is 27.00 crores. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, IAS Principal Secretary to the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary, J&K, and Dr. Arun Kumar Bhatnagar.A complete tourist/pilgrim circuit will be created by installing the vertical lift, which will connect the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex with the Peerkho Station of the Jammu Ropeway Project and other tourist/pilgrim locations. Tourists and pilgrims visiting surrounding attractions including the Jammu Ropeway Project, Peerkho Temple, Mahamaya Temple, Bahu Fort, Bagh-e-Bahu, and Bhawe Mata Ji Temple will find the circuit to be of great convenience. The lift would make it simple for visitors to travel from Jammu District's Mubarak Mandi Complex to the other three Pracheen temples and other tourist-related locations. Additionally, it will draw tourists to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and offer them a full religious circuit. CEO reviews Jammu’s ULB election preparations

JAMMU:Today, Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, the district's chief electoral officer (CEO), presided over a meeting with nodal officials and other senior authorities to discuss the district's preparations for the impending urban local body elections. The CEO emphasised the substantial change in Jammu and Kashmir at the meeting because the region now consistently holds regular ULB elections. He emphasised how crucial these elections were in distributing power to the populace and bringing government closer to the people.The CEO reaffirmed, "For the first time in recent history, power rests with Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions," highlighting the increased public awareness of the significance of every vote. SRINAGAR, Sept 13: Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference, stated on Wednesday that until India and Pakistan engage in discussion to find a permanent resolution to all disputes, militancy in Jammu and Kashmir will not cease. "Encounters will continue to occur. It would be incorrect to claim that militancy has ended. These events occurred yesterday and they are occurring today. They will continue to occur until both countries sit down to negotiate a resolution, Abdullah said following a meeting at the party office in this city. Encounter breaks out in Anantnag, officers from army, police injured

ANANTNAG: An engagement between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag district's Kokernag area resulted in injuries to Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police officers, according to the police. The Jammu and Kashmir Police announced via their official account on the social media site 'X' that "An encounter has commenced in the Kokernag region of Anantnag. Army and JKP (Jammu and Kashmir Police) officers were hurt. Details will be provided. Officials reported that another terrorist was killed on Wednesday in the Rajouri region of Jammu and Kashmir during the ongoing battle between security forces and militants that started a day ago.The ongoing encounter in the Narla neighbourhood of Rajouri has claimed the life of a second terrorist, according to Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu. A top police officer had earlier on Tuesday said that a confrontation that broke out in the Narla area resulted in the shooting death of a soldier and one terrorist. A Special Police Officer (SPO) and three other security employees were also hurt during the gunfire exchange. Kerala Nipah deaths: 7 villages declared containment zones, schools closed

Kerala:The Kozhikode district of Kerala, where two individuals died as a result of the Nipah virus, has seven village panchayats that the Kerala government named containment zones on Wednesday. Restrictions and other actions were also declared by the government to stop the sickness from spreading. The action was taken after the state health ministry issued an alert following the confirmation of four Nipah illnesses in four individuals, including a nine-year-old kid, in the Kozhikode region. Some offices and schools in the impacted areas were closed by the authorities.According to Kerala's Health Minister Veena George, the Nipah virus strain is a Bangladeshi variation that travels from person to person and has a high fatality rate despite being less contagious. In the past, the state experienced Nipah virus epidemics in 2018 and 2021. 2nd Terrorist Killed During Encounter In Rajouri

Jammu, Sept 13: The number of terrorists killed during the ongoing three-day search operation in a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district has risen to three after a second terrorist was killed in an encounter with security personnel on Wednesday, according to officials. Tuesday's clash in the isolated Narla area resulted in the death of a suspected Pakistani terrorist. Three security personnel were hurt in the gunfight, along with an Army soldier and Kent, a six-year-old female Labrador from the Army's dog squad. Another terrorist was slain in the encounter on Wednesday, according to Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Jammu Zone).Despite the severe weather, security officers established a firm cordon around the region, which is 75 miles from Rajouri town, all night. The next morning, they expanded their search to include adjacent locations, according to officials. The villagers sought permanent security posts after hearing reports of intermittent firing during the night. After spotting two people moving suspiciously on Monday, the security officers conducted a cordon and search operation in the wooded Patrada region and fired a few shots, according to the officials.However, both suspects were able to escape because of the night and the thick woodland. The search teams were able to locate a rucksack, some clothing, and other stuff that they left behind. At the Army post in Rajouri early on Wednesday, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in honour of Ravi Kumar, a deceased rifleman from the Kishtwar district. Along with Deputy Commissioner (Rajouri) Vikas Kundal, senior Army officers and other ranks laid wreaths on Kumar's coffin. RAJOURI: A six-year-old female labrador gave her life in the line of duty, in keeping with the highest traditions of the Indian army, by protecting her handler during an encounter that broke out in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday. The Public Relations Officer, Indian Army, Jammu notified the public in a statement that Kent, a dog from the 21 Army Dog Unit, died at the scene while leading a group of soldiers on the trail of fleeing terrorists. According to the statement, Kent was at the vanguard of "Operation Sujaligala." In the encounter that occurred in the Narllah area of the Rajouri district in the Jammu region, one terrorist and an army jawan were slain, according to Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police. A Special Police Officer (SPO) and three other jawans were hurt during the gunfire exchange. J&K offers one of the lowest tariff rates to its consumers

SRINAGAR: The J&K Power Development department responds to a news item that was published in a local newspaper in Jammu and Kashmir on September 12 by claiming that the news report is factually false and that the department was not consulted before the news item was published. The hydropower projects in Jammu and Kashmir have been established in both the state and federal sectors, and the UT-owned plants supply 18% of the total amount of energy needed, according to a JKPDD communiqué. It continues by saying that the majority (70%) of the power supply comes from Central Generating Stations (CGS), with the remaining (12%) coming from the Power Exchange/Private Sector.The Baglihar Hydro Electric Project (BHEP), which generates approximately 900 megawatts (MW) of power, accounts for the majority of J&K's own electricity generation, according to the communique. Other locally owned power generation plants, such as Upper Sindh, Lower Jhelum, Chenani, etc., collectively generate only 200–250 MW. According to the article, UT's own generating plants produce a total of 1100–1140 MWs of power on average. However, during the winter, when demand is at its highest and river discharge is low, this total drops to 200 MWs.The statement further states that Central Generating Stations (CGS) that are both inside and outside of J&K's border provide the remaining power needed during the winter. According to the PDD, of the 1140 MW of installed capacity in the UT sector, approximately 1030 MW (88% of the total capacity) is used in J&K, and the remaining 150 MW is sold outside of J&K in order to uphold the agreements that J&K and other entities entered into in 2009. The communiqué further states that throughout the preceding four years, J&K did not add any PPAs for selling power outside of J&K; instead, the same amount was retained as per the prior PPAs.It also states that new PPAs have been signed to double the capacity/availability of power to J&K in the upcoming years, to the tune of 2845 MW, from various power houses (hydro and solar) being developed by CPSUs/JV of J&K & NHPC at nominal price, in the year 2023. Jammu and Kashmir provides one of the lowest tariff prices to its consumers in a number of categories, emphasising its dedication to offering its citizens reasonably priced power, it continues.
