Unity Runs, Integrity Pledges Organised Across Jammu Region On ‘Rastriya Ekta Diwas’

Jammu, Oct 31: Throughout the Jammu region, several unity runs and integrity pledges were held in observance of "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas," which commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the nation's first home minister. Since 2014, the anniversary of Sardar Patel's birth has been observed as "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas," or National Unity Day. To commemorate the day, a "Run for Unity" was held in this location. On October 31, 2019, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which divided the former state into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, went into effect. In J&K and Ladakh, this day is observed as Union Territory Day.Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar led the large unity run in Jammu, which was sponsored by the district administration. The run started at Gulshan Ground Area and ended at Hari Singh Park. The run for unity drew hundreds of participants, including schoolchildren, government representatives from various agencies, law enforcement officers, and citizens. They performed "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" organ chants. Speaking to media in this location, Kumar announced that on the 148th anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth, a unity marathon had been planned. Kumar stated that he had been instrumental in the unification of India. According to the official, the day is also commemorated as the establishment day of Jammu and Kashmir's Union territory. People from all walks of life participated in a run for unity that was planned in response to this, he said. Preside over an integrity promise of the people, Kumar urged that people should emulate Sardar Patel by prioritising the nation and striving for unity and honesty. Reports from the district administration in a number of districts state that similar pledge runs for integration and unity were also held in their districts. SSP Amritpal Singh of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Rajouri set off a "Run for Unity" on Tuesday morning as part of the celebrations marking "Rashtriya Ekta Diwas" and police memorial week. Khalil Poswal, SSP Kishtwar, underlined the value of unity and the way Sardar Patel's actions brought princely kingdoms together to become a single, unified India. Criminal Detained Under PSA In Reasi

Jammu, Oct 31: In the Reasi area of Jammu and Kashmir, a guy wanted in fourteen criminal cases was taken into custody on Tuesday under the Public Safety Act (PSA), according to officials. After Umer Waseem Ghani, a resident of Mahore tehsil's Bagga village, was arrested by police under the PSA, District Magistrate Babila Rakhwal issued a detention order.They added that Ghani was discovered to be connected to 14 charges that were filed against him in the Himachal Pradesh districts of Kangra and Dharamshala, as well as the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Udhampur, Jammu, and Reasi. Srinagar, Oct 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Meteorological Centre issued a prediction on Tuesday regarding the likelihood of light rain or snowfall across isolated to scattered higher levels on November 2. According to the MeT office, the weather in Jammu and Kashmir will mostly stay cloudy with the chance of light rain or snowfall over isolated to scattered higher ranges on November 2-3.It stated that from November 4 to November 6, the weather will mostly stay dry. According to reports, most of J&K is now experiencing clear weather, and it will continue to do so until November 1. According to the MeT office, the minimum temperature on Tuesday was 4.6 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir; Qazigund recorded 3.0 degrees Celsius; Pahalgam recorded 0.8 degrees Celsius; Kupwara recorded 3.1 degrees Celsius; Kokernag recorded 4.8 degrees Celsius; and Gulmarg recorded 4.0 degrees Celsius. Police files charge sheet in Jammu dentist’s murder case

Jammu, Oct 30 : A 1,249-page charge sheet in the murder case of a female dentist killed by her male acquaintance was submitted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday. Johar Mehmood Ganai (30) is suspected of stabbing Sumedha Sharma (27), killing her on March 7 at her Janipur home in Jammu. Ganai, a physician, attempted suicide with the same knife.Police said in a statement late last evening that the charge sheet against the accused was filed under sections 309 (attempt to commit suicide) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code in a court of law. According to the statement, Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Ramnish Gupta led a special investigation team that the police had established after the murder. UP Man Shot Dead By Terrorists In Pulwama

SRINAGAR: Terrorists shot and killed an Uttar Pradesh worker in Pulwama district on Monday, one day after they targeted a police officer, according to officials. In a post on X, a police spokesman stated, "Terrorists fired upon one labourer identified as Mukesh of UP in Tumchi Nowpora area of Pulwama, who later succumbed to injuries."According to him, the location has been sealed off, and the terrorists responsible for the laborer's death are being sought out. Terrorists shot and seriously injured police inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani at the Eidgah ground in the city when he was playing cricket with neighbourhood boys. This was the second terror strike in the Kashmir Valley in less than 24 hours. In the wake of the two terror incidents, security has been stepped up throughout the Kashmir Valley, particularly in Srinagar and south Kashmir areas, according to the officials. Following the attack on Inspector Wani, the security forces have increased their scrutiny of cars and pedestrians in various areas of Srinagar and other towns, particularly in the Pulwama district in south Kashmir, according to the officials.They stated that there are now mobile car checks at all of Srinagar's main junctions and the city's exits. A number of political figures have denounced the assault on the labourer and the police officer in the meantime. Ghulam Nabi Azad, the head of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party and a former chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir, has vehemently denounced the deliberate killing of an outside labourer in Pulwama. Old mortar shell found in Jammu
