JAMMU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the security arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other senior officials, stressing the need to further strengthen the security grid and enhance youth engagement.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said he discussed several innovative measures to reinforce a watertight security cordon across the Union Territory. He noted that de-radicalisation efforts have yielded major success, accelerating the government’s vision of a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
“Reviewed the security for J&K with Lt. Governor and senior officials. Discussed innovative measures to further reinforce watertight security cordon. Efforts for de-radicalisation have seen major success in accelerating our vision for terror-free J&K. Instructed to take more steps for youth engagement,” Shah wrote.
Earlier in the day, the Union Home Minister visited the Border Security Force (BSF) outpost at Bobia Chowki in Kathua, where he commended the force for its unwavering commitment to protecting the nation’s borders.
Calling the BSF an “indispensable wall” safeguarding India, Shah credited its personnel for earning the admiration of the nation, citing Operation Sindoor as a shining example of the force’s bravery and professionalism.
Addressing BSF personnel at the border outpost, Shah said that every visit to a BSF post offers him lessons in duty, discipline, and sacrifice.
“Whenever I go to the border of BSF Chowki—whether it is the desert of Kutch, the desert of Rajasthan or the area of J&K—I always learn from all of you the values of duty-consciousness and duty-awareness. If there is anyone in all the services, then it is my young men of BSF who are always on the border,” he said.
Highlighting the force’s legacy, Shah said the BSF’s 60-year-old heroic history has instilled a deep sense of pride among the people of the country. He added that while BSF personnel may not always be active on social media, public appreciation for them is widespread and deeply meaningful.
