JAMMU: Police have arrested the driver involved in the fatal road accident in Ramban district that claimed the life of Advocate Sheikh Adil Nabi, a prosecutor associated with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, said the accused driver, Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Nadirgund Peerbagh, Srinagar, was taken into custody a couple of days after the incident. He added that the Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK-01BB-2625, which collided with the Alto K10 driven by the prosecutor, has also been seized.
According to the SSP, an FIR No. 139/2025 has been registered at Police Station Banihal under Sections 281 and 125A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause and sequence of events leading to the fatal collision.
The tragic death of the CBI prosecutor has sent shockwaves through legal circles and the local community. Police officials said that all necessary legal and procedural formalities are being completed.
