JAMMU: High drama erupted in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday as National Conference (NC) legislators raised slogans of “Vote chor! Vote chor!” while pointing towards the opposition benches, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of vote manipulation in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
The uproar began during the Question Hour when the Deputy Chief Minister was responding to a query. Tensions flared after he remarked, “Let us keep secrets, we know who has done what.”
His statement immediately provoked protests from BJP members, prompting NC MLAs to rise from their seats, shouting ‘Vote chor!’ repeatedly.
The heated exchange disrupted the proceedings for several minutes before the Speaker intervened and restored order in the House.
