Sonamarg accident: Four bodies retrieved, rest missing; operation called off amid heavy rains

SONAMARG: At least four bodies were retrieved even as the rescue operation was called off amid heavy rains at Gagangir area of Sonamarg after a vehicle carrying eight passengers including tourists plunged into Nallah Sindh Sunday evening along the Srinagar-Leh highway, officials said. As per officials that till now only the driver of the vehicle has been safely rescued. “All the persons on the vehicle except for the driver were tourists,” the official said. After receiving information about the accident this evening a major rescue operation was launched by police, army’s 34 Assam Rifles, Traffic Rural Police, Civil administration, locals, SDRF and NDRF, reports said.
