JAMMU: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Dr Sunil Gupta conducted a surprise inspection of Police Station RS Pura where he reviewed several aspects of the station’s operations. A statement said that the DIG JSK Range scrutinized various registers including the Mahila Desk, Cyber, NCR, Tyohar, NDPS, and Land Dispute Registers, finding them generally well-maintained. Dr Gupta noted the cleanliness of the premises but recommended further improvements and enhanced lighting around the Police Station. Amidst his inspection, Dr Sunil Gupta emphasized the need for heightened vigilance in the area due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He tasked SP Headquarters Jammu, SDPO RS Pura, and SHO RS Pura with maintaining strict surveillance and ensuring public grievances are addressed promptly, with particular attention to complaints from women, which should be handled by female staff. Highlighting the fight against drug abuse, Dr Gupta instructed that the police station’s boundary walls be painted with anti-drug slogans. He urged a focused approach on NDPS, road accidents and land dispute cases. He also directed officers to trace both backward and forward linkages in ongoing NDPS investigations, identify and seize properties of drug traffickers, and demolish illegal structures as per the law. Additionally, Dr Gupta called for updates to history sheets and surveillance over gangsters and criminals who have been bailed out, to pre-empt further crimes. He stressed the orderly arrangement of vehicles seized under operation Avtar and reinforced the importance of a robust beat system at the police station to enhance local policing effectiveness.
